Very Nice Park Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 30, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is in a beautiful park, with acres of mowed grass and tall, scattered pines. This park is well trimmed with no brush or scrub. Beaver Fork Lake is nearby, but only (barely) in play on Hole 4.

Holes lengths average 240' with 16 holes at less than 300' and only one hole over 400'. This is great course for those who don't throw big drives. Most holes are pretty open and quite flat.

There are enough trees to require some shaping of your drive, but most holes are open enough that missing the line isn't a huge problem.

Hole 4 has a carry over water, but the carry is reasonable (175') for most players.

Holes 14, 15 and 17 are short, tight tunnels in the woods. At 142', 147' and 118' they are the shortest on the course.

Good concrete tee pads with perfect texture. Innova Discatcher baskets catch well and are easy to see. The few tee signs that were present (see cons) had distance and par info, along with good hole diagrams. They also had local sponsors listed which is great to see.

Cons:

Only one tee sign on the front nine, and three on the back nine the day I played. Don't know why most were missing.

A couple of tee pads on sloping ground were not level side-to-side.

Most of the holes are short throws over grass, with scattered trees. Nice holes, but not a ton of variety or challenge.

Hole 17 has a tight tunnel for the most of the hole, and then, nothing. A group of trees directly in front of the pin with a couple of random disc width gaps. I got a totally random kick toward the basket from an out-of-sight obstacle, but there doesn't seem to be a complete fairway to the pin.

Other Thoughts:

As mentioned previously, there are two distinct nine-hole loops. If you park near Hole 1 you've got a .25 mile walk back from the basket of Hole 18.

Review of Beaver Fork 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 18, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice clean park. It's not my "home course" by any means but I have played it probably 4-6 times and I don't remember having major issues with landscaping. Great course for beginners to work on everything and for those at a higher skill level there are good holes to practice distance. Lot's of parking and pretty easy to navigate through the park.

Cons:

Not a PDGA approved park from what I have heard. Meaning no real tournaments will happen there. Walk back from 18 is really long and uncalled for considering the size of the park. This course will not get intermediate-pro skill levels any better because it's simply way too easy.

Other Thoughts:

Fun park, lots of space, and good disc golf course.

My Home Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 13, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I was very happy when they built Beaverfork and I finally had a course in town to go to.

It's definitely not a difficult course...there are a number of folks I've been on tag evens with locally who can birdie nearly every hole, but especially for an amateur, this park is a great experience.

There's a wide variety of holes here, and certainly holes which beg for an expertly thrown anhyzer midrange, or a great drive, or a roller. Aside from hole four, which is a water hole that a lot of people have lost discs on (including myself) it's a treat course to experiment on, and there's not a lot of terrain to lose a disc in.

It's definitely a walk, and if you're going to do this in the summer, you will definitely want to bring drinks, but if you're looking for a course to try a new technique out on, this is definitely a good one.

Cons:

It's a very easy course, overall. Hole 4 has a drop you can use instead of the water, hole 6 is a blind hole but doesn't go to far, and hole 17 has a lot of trees to go through, but those are just small details. Especially if you've played the course before, it becomes easy to work toward those birdies. Though that may be exactly what you need.

Other Thoughts:

It's certainly to be hoped that by having a course in Conway, that will finally touch off the pro-DG population in Conway that we've really needed.

Tired of long walks back to 1 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 29, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Tee pads and signs on all the holes

Very very good variety of holes.

Very pretty park.

Rest Rooms on the course (however they were closed for winter when I played)

Cons:

The biggest con for this course it the crazy walk from hole 18 back to hole 1/parking area.

This is basically two 9 hole courses on different sides of the park.

The tee on the side of the hill was not flat making it very hard to throw.

Other Thoughts:

Although I did not like the very long walk, this course is not all that bad and has some fun holes to play.

Very nice hole shooting over the edge of the lake.

The course also takes advantage of some natural fairways on most of the holes.

The few holes in the woods were throw and pray. I think I took a 4 on the shortest hole on the course because I kept hitting tree's 25 feet in front of me.

I recommend playing holes 1 to 9, then moving your car over to the baseball field and parking there to play 10 to 18, I know I will be doing that when/if I ever play here again. Or park between holes 9 and 10 and play each side so you don't have that super long walk after your round is over.
