Pleasant Surprise 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 16, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice mix of long/short holes...
Four of five holes where water comes into play...
Nice mix of open bomber shots and play around trees...
Generally not crowded...
Operated by a really nice family who embrace disc golf...
Pro Shop/Restaurant/Bar on premises...
Excellent baskets...
Nice new artificial turf tee pads/boxes...
Option to use golf carts...
Course has lights at night...
18 is an excellent finishing hole...

Cons:

Hole 3 is really interesting; starting with about a 400 foot open drive and then entering a nice treed tunnel for the last 400 feet...the problem is the left turn entrance to the tunnel is difficult to access and borders on unfair...

Hole 17 is a nearly 300 foot carry over water...for those who don't have that distance there is not an easy LHBH bail out spot from the tee...

Pay course - $5 for round, $9 for day...

Other Thoughts:

I generally don't like disc golf courses designed into ball golf courses but this one has a lot to offer...

Love to pair this course with Lakeside Beach courses and the newly expanded Golden Hill course for a perfect day of disc golf...

New favorite Course 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Many perks to this disc golf course:
1. it is private so there are no other casual people walking around with their dogs, having picnics or oblivious to the existent of a disc golf course.
2. the clubhouse gives it a different feel than all other courses in western NY. Food and beverages before or after the round is an added perk. Eating on the patio you are able to see several holes.
3. the holes are designed to play against the ball golf course. You are able to see when it is safe to proceed and throw your shot.
4. The holes are designed with a variety of shots off the tees. A fair mix of hyper, straight, anhyzer, side arm, touch shots, power shots off the tee. Placement and execution is a must to birdie the par 3s. Pin placements are on slopes and elevated areas or near o.b.. The par 4 and 5s are not the most difficult if you can throw far and accurate, but trouble is sill around, (golf greens, perimeter of course and ponds are o.b.).
5. Most holes are open with some trees but the line is there with a few wooded holes mixed in-a monster on holes 3. Good luck with that one. don't bite off more than you can chew or you will take a big number.
6. Using a golf cart is enjoyable and rounds are quick. Paying for a day pass is worth it.
7. Lighted course after dark!!!!

Cons:

A few cons-
1. Finding the next holes can be confusing if its your first time playing. Tee signs and signage in general is lacking.
2. Ball golfers have right of way, sometimes it can be busy and confusing.
3. Grass tee pads that are starting to turn to dirt.
4. Some baskets are not lighted after dark. Hard to play in those areas.

Other Thoughts:

Exited to see what improvements are made this year.
I live in Wilson and this has become my favorite course in the north.
Would like to see a league at this course.
Tee pads and sign improvement.

Wear a helmet! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 3, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

A couple easy baskets to start / and then it gets pretty long on a few. Had the whole course pretty much to ourselves starting 0900. Well manicured course (obviously - it's a golf course).

Cons:

Ball golf traffic really picks up around 1030 and slowed us right down. Some of the baskets are close together and can be confusing the first time you throw a round - but shouldn't be too hard to figure out once you get a round in. Also - beware the ornery black bird near basket 12. He's a little territorial.

Other Thoughts:

Cool new course. We will be back / just get there early.
