Solid Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 11, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well maintained course in a multi-use park. Multiple tee pads on every hole mean you can tailor the round to your desired level of difficulty. I played with my wife (beginner-ish level) and we had no problems with me playing from the red tees and her playing from the yellows.

The tee pads are very well maintained and have nice gravel off the front end in case you need to follow through. The baskets are all in great shape and clearly visible throughout the course. Multiple basket locations for each hole also allow for some variety (although only 1 basket per hole is set at a time)

The challenge of the course comes from the tree lines and occasional mandos. You need to be able to throw low, straight and long to do well here as anything up high gets punished by tree branches immediately.

Overall, the course is well designed, the holes are challenging enough for an experienced player, but not so punishing that new players will get turned off and the park is well kept and clearly cared for.

Cons:

There aren't any major problems with the course. I'll list a few things below that keep me from rating this any higher, but admittedly these are all pretty nit-picky:

There are no trash cans on the course. There's also no course map available (there are maps on the tee pad for each hole). The flow is also a little weird in the middle, at some point you're back tracking past a few holes to get around.

As for the holes specifically, there's no real elevation challenges, especially for how hilly the surrounding area is I expected more ups and downs. In general I would love a bit more variety on the holes - a few open shots to air it out, longer holes, shorter holes, etc.

Lastly, this is more of a personal preference, but there is no real signature hole on the course (maybe hole 2 with the hill?), I like to have a hole to remember as something cool and unique on each course and the holes on this course were somewhat repetitive.

Other Thoughts:

The course is located in a really cool town with lots of great restaurants and interesting shops. I highly recommending stopping downtown and spending time walking around if you're playing from out of town as I was.

When I played the baskets were all in the short placements so the course may be even more challenging/unique if the baskets were in the tournament placements, but I can only review with what I played.

Bluegrass Trails Course review 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Three different courses; Yellow(short) Blue (long) Red (Longest)..this course can handle RAIN. if you can throw long and low.. you will excel on this course. Beautiful course.. not for the beginners, imo. if you get a bogey, hard to get your stroke back. Home of the Arkansas Masters; course is maintained VERY well.. the city takes care of this course. Locals are very friendly.. this course will challenge you

Cons:

Not real easy for beginners; only two known recorded Aces on this course.. both from the yellow tees. On #16, the OB is the walking track at the park.. about 30 feet past the disc catcher. Bathrooms are at the entrance at the park only, but very clean/well kept.

Other Thoughts:

If you play this course and lose your disc, there's a 95% chance you will get it back as long as your contact info is on the disc. Also a "found disc" box at the entrance. Lot more land to be used if needed for this course. Lots of parking and the Mayor/Chamber of Commerce/local vendors all contribute to make disc golf grow.
