Western New York Escarpment Offers Great Holes and Views

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 29, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Long blue tees. Great elevation changes. Mix of wooded/technical and long, open holes. Well maintained and most holes not shared with other traffic.

Cons:

Remote location.

Other Thoughts:

This is really a fantastic course and a good challenge for me from the white tees. People complain about the walking, but I like to walk--a full 18 is just over 4 miles. The sheer variety of holes and beauty of this course make it worth the drive. Epic holes give opportunity for bomber shots, but not all the elevation is downhill. Uphill shots add difficulty. Water adds interest but not so much difficulty. The rough to the right on #18 is epic and must be full of lost discs.

Excellent Course

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 25, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

- lots of very scenic holes
- holes required every kind of shot
- very doable water holes
- great signage at holes and directional signage between holes
- excellent use of elevation
- excellent mix of open and wooded holes
- lots of long holes to appeal to the longer throwers out there but manageable for the average player if using the white tees ( not really good for beginmers)

Cons:

- turf tees as opposed to cement. We played in dry weather and they were fine. I do not know how they would be in very wet and muddy conditions
- lots of the holes seem very spaced out and there is lots of walking to get to the holes ( not as bad but similar to a course like black diamond which is another course in the area)

Other Thoughts:

I really enjoyed the white tees on this course. I feel they offered me everything the course had to offer but at a more manageable distance for an average player like me. I was able to finish the course with a satisfying score and also I wasn't completely tired out at the end of my round. Meanwhile the friends I was playing with could play at the blue tees and get the extra distance they love. Even though we were playing different tees, I still felt part of the group. I also felt every hole had a unique and pituresque design to it. Finally this course at either tee would not be a good course for beginners

One of the Best in Western New York 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 23, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

The incredible variety of holes, the scenery, great tee pads (two sets, turf), tee signs, and baskets.

Plenty of length on this course from the back tees.

Well thought out and wonderful course design that challenges but doesn't punish.

Front Nine: Two "top of the world" downhill bomb tee shots (#1, #6), two sharply uphill holes (#4, #7), baskets and tees tucked into the woods, and three beautiful wooded holes (#7, #8, #9).

Back Nine: More traditional park golf than the front 9 and less elevation change. One tee shot over water (#17).

Cons:

1. Hole #17 along the lake has had cars parked and/or people & dogs in the fairway as the population isn't accustomed to the course being in place.

2. A few longer walks (hole 4 basket to hole 5 tee; hole 7 basket to hole 8 tee, and over a third of a mile walk from 18 basket back to main parking lot by first tee).

Other Thoughts:

This course is an easy 4 star right out of the gate; it should be 4.5 stars once the course is worn in a bit (which shouldn't take long as the course has already had a lot of play in the first few weeks) and there are less issues with the general public on hole 17.

A great addition to disc golf in Western New York!!!
