- Nine permanent baskets, level in the ground, and all in good repair.
- Tee signs at each hole(5's was missing) with a course map on them.
- Varying terrain. Course plays through some manicured fields around a middle school and then through some rollings hills with pine trees and sandstone rocks.
- Well maintained area. The city does some good work mowing, even in the natural areas of holes 4-9.
- Excellent mix of hole lengths. Couple of putter/mid shots, some middle length holes, a couple of full throws as well as 2 holes that I'd consider "par 4" style holes as well(5 & 7).
- Navigation is pretty simple, especially with the course maps on the tee signs.
- Free to play.
- Not busy. I'd find it hard to imagine this course ever getting too busy. Colstrip is a pretty small town and it isn't on the way to or from anywhere.

- Tee boxes are just gravelly dirt patches that have, for the most part, become overgrown. The ground next to most of them is more suitable for teeing off.
- The course could have used more the natural area that holes 4-9 play around. There's some great elevation and a lot more trees that could have been included to make this a really cool 12+ hole course.
- Pretty big disconnect between 7 & 8 makes for a bit of a walk. If the above mentioned land was used for the course, it could easily flow without any long walks.
- With a handful of blind holes, tee signs showing the actual holes layout, not just the overall course map, would be helpful. Holes 4, 5, 7, 8, &, 9 would benefit from this change.
- Holes 1-3 play around and through a sports field & walking path as well as near a playground causing possible usage conflicts.
- Not a ton of line shaping required to score well or get off the tees.
- Pretty well out of the way unless you're in Colstrip.

This is a very fun little spin and was a pleasent surprise as it added about an hour of driving in to our route to bag it. The city of Colstrip takes really good care of their parks which was why we kept in on the list. As mentioned above, the tee sign for 5 is missing. The tee is past 4's basket, the natural gravel tee is well dug out and points you straight up the little valley through the trees to a blind pin spot(one of the "par 4's). It's a farily obvious transition and the fairway for 5 is nicely mowed. There is a bathroom in the parking lot. Holes 1-3 play near a school so keep that in mind if you decide to make the trip. Those 3 starting holes are OK-Meh, but really, holes 5-9 make the course. Fun, fairly challenging, & well kept. If you have a chance, I'd encourage bagging this one. I'd be happy if this were the 9-holer in a small town I lived in and was happy we made the extra drive to add it to our bagging loop.
