Pros:

-Clean new course with nice grounds
-Clean new permanent baskets
-Surprisingly lush for drought stricken city course.
-Fun layout that tests short to mid game.
-Easy parking and no hiking.
-Fast rounds: plays twice in an hour.
-A lot of disc control challenge.
-Serves North Central area that had no courses

Cons:

-Very Short, very tight for long shots.
-Crossing fairways on every hole
-Tough to play when crowded
-Dirt tee pads were a bit rutted
-No elevation, water, fairway trees etc.

Other Thoughts:

Wow! This is indeed a much better course than you would expect from a very small 6 basket location. And I would add that there IS O.B. outside the concrete landscape border, making for LOTS of Disc Control challenge on every hole. My local friend tells me that they just don't play the ob on the one basket that is itself outside of that curb.

The course is on a VERY narrow strip of beautifully landscaped park area within a large church grounds. Because all groups are so close together, we had no real problem waving to other players as each group took it's turn to throw. But this course is gonna get crowded during prime time hours.

I might suggest a couple things: A heavy metal rake and a tamper could flatten the tee pad ruts pretty easily. Or rubber mats would be a nice upgrade. Signage that encourages players to alternate throws with other groups and watch out for stray discs would be nice. But I gotta say, this place reachs it's potential already. Calvary is a very welcome addition to ABQ course options. Well done.

Nice little course near the main freeway passing through Albuquerque 2+ years

Pros:

Calvary Church DGC in Albuquerque, NM was a pleasant surprise. Any time I see a 9 hole course with 6 baskets my expectations are pretty low. This place, however, is NICE! First of all, it is very well maintained. The tee signs are simple, but tell you what you need to know. The Mach II baskets are permanently installed and in good shape. Holes 3 and 9 are listed at par 4, but most places would not give you 4 shots for under 400 feet. But both of these holes give those of you with a good arm a chance to air one out and maybe get an eagle. On 3 there is a patio structure in the way that you need to throw around and a large tree in the way that makes for a low ceiling and a tougher shot, but still doable.

Cons:

There are no tee pads, but hey it's not a championship course. The fairways are constantly crossing, which is a big no-no in course design, but hey it was designed in a narrow strip and I commend the guy who came up with this fun spot.

Other Thoughts:

The grassy area is ringed by a concrete curb with shrubbery on the other side. Intuitively going over the curb would be OB but not here because one of the baskets is on the other side of the curb.

When I was there I met a local who plays here a lot on his way to and from work. When I told him I liked this course he agreed. I think if you are passing through Albuquerque and stop here that you also will like it.
