Fun Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 20, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

I really enjoyed this course. I'm not a big thrower so all the holes under 400' is good with me. There are two sets of tees making 20 holes easily playable. I like that the distances are carved into the front landscape timber of the tee boxes. There is a nice sign by tee 1 so you know where to start. None of the holes are totally wide open and some of the holes have some challenging paths to the baskets. I also like that I have a chance at an Ace on this course.

Cons:

The only real gripe I have is the Yellow tee on Hole 6 which is jammed up against the trees with no clear path to the basket. A minor gripe would be some of the tee boxes are uneven because the dirt gets pretty loose.

Other Thoughts:

Take a look at the review by Scarpfish below. He does a nice job with his perspective.

Good for families and beginners 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Nice recreational course at a Salvation Army retreat camp inside a north Wichita neighborhood. Well maintained grounds. Great for introducing new players and for taking the kids out who might find a more standard layout with more formidable hazards too intimidating. Two tees on each hole allow for variety, although seasoned players aren't going to have much difficulty from either set. Enough trees on many of the holes to keep you honest.

Cons:

Advanced and above level players will find this layout a bit on the underwhelming side as there are no holes over 400'. A few safety issues with picnic tables, the camp amphitheater, roads and other holes baskets in the line of fire. Course is likely not playable by the public if there are activities at the camp. Natural tees are showing rutting from use and need to be regraded.

Other Thoughts:

Kind of a pleasant surprise. They were obviously going for the youth and family players here and in making a layout that is challenging for those type of players they succeeded. Really, this sort of course was much needed in metro Wichita as the lengths and hazards at Oak and Herman are too much for new players and kids to handle. I did happen to notice that the camp had some more land available in the woods to the south and east. Expansion to 18 someday?

Fun course 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Clean and well kept course. nice baskets. has 2 t-pads to play different 10 hole rounds.
never crowded. great beginners course.

Cons:

The course starts off the road and not the parking lot, so if you have never played there it can be confusing to find #1, I had to just find a basket and work my way to it, once I figured it out it was easy. Need more longer holes, not many over 250'

Other Thoughts:

I love this course, somewhat technical but really fun and relaxing to play, I played 2 rounds of 20 and wasn't even tired. its short.

Solid Fun Course 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Fun technical holes that require you to use a forehand and backhand effectively. Because it is pretty short, you can score very low if you are accurate. Forgiving for beginning players, but entertaining enough to hold the interest of more advanced players. The baskets were in great shape, and the markings make it easier than some courses to get around without getting lost.

Cons:

Single chain baskets lead to some chain outs, but not too bad. Pretty short without a lot of 'let the big dog eat' kind of holes.

Other Thoughts:

I play a lot of the Wichita area disc golf courses, and this one is just as fun as any of them:) Hardly ever anyone out there playing, so you can have your run of the course with your buddies which is much better than the busy courses.
