Pros:
- Beginner friendly: If you are trying to decide which ATL area course to bring that first timer you convinced to join you for a round (especially a female or junior player), this is THE spot.
- Fun! While short, the course features a wide variety of technical lines particularly on holes 3 through 8.
- Excellent use of topography, particularly on holes 7 (the hardest hole on the course as a tightly wooded uphill ~220' par 3 with early kick into jail and rollaway potential on the green) and hole 8 (an extremely touchy turnover putter shot that goes up then pretty sharply downhill where I constantly end up in the creek bed behind the hole putting back sharply uphill from circles edge)
- Great practice area in front of the church with 3 baskets and one of the largest available fields you will find in the ATL Perimeter North area.
- Rumored to be planning an expansion to 18 holes in the coming years.
Cons:
- Average hole length of ~200' so most reading this will be throwing almost exclusively putters off the tee except for holes 1 and 2 which are quite open.
- Lack of challenge (as a high 800s level player I average ~4 or 5 down on 9).
- Turf tee pads that are showing some age.
Other Thoughts:
Disclaimer: I tried to be objective but I love this course as it is where my family and I started playing in 2020. 2 years and a junior world championship for my daughter later, disc golf is an incredible family activity for the long run. Special thanks to Bryan Gort the course designer and some members of the church for making this happen!
