Small City Course Plays In Two Distinct Areas! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 3, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Champlain DGC in the city by the same name is a very short, basic course which has holes in two park areas in downtown. The fact that this isn't mentioned in the course description had me scratching my heading and wondering about for a while.

Holes 1-3 start over by the community garden and little playground. Then you walk about a block crossing the bridge and find the remaining 6 holes in the little area along the river.

There is no course sign or map or anything helpful like that. There are no tee signs, either. The tee pads are small concrete pads 3' X 5' WITH a large, blue plaque which reads, "Innova- Play Disc Golf." Don't put anything useful on the teepad, like the hole number!

The baskets are Discatchers but alas, they don't have a number on them. Golly, that would have saved me some confusion.

Holes 4,5 & 6 all play right beside the river. With the wind blowing like it was today and the novice players this course will attract, many a disc will splash down into the river below.

Cons:

Two of the holes along the river also have electrical wires hanging right across your preferred flight path. Players won't notice these wires. Will throw what seems like the perfect shot when suddenly their shot is slapped down, slides into the river, never to be thrown again.

A new, fairly large, piece of playground toy of some type is being constructed right in the middle of the # 3 fairway.

Ridiculous message on concrete tee pads instead of helpful number.

No signage of any kind.

Course divided into two sections without letting people know.

Course does not have a good flow as it starts in park area and finishes by the river. I admit I'm lazy. I would play 1-3, drive over to the riverfront park, park my car and play 4-9.

Other Thoughts:

I love the fact that a small town like Champlain has a disc golf course. I just wish they would have consulted with someone who's actually played the game before wasting money on silly plaques or building holes so close to the river.
