Boring but very clean 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 12, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

They have signs now. Its super easy to follow. Some are longer. Fairways are easy to see and follow

Cons:

Very flat and not much variety. Just tall grass rough for the only thing to avoid. Its wide open so if Texas wind is there you will be in the rough allot.

Other Thoughts:

They do a great job at keeping this mowed and nice looking

i hope you like tall grass 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 23, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

-8 discatchers and a veteran on hole 9
-rubber tee mats
-green metal rods with white tops mark the tees, no signs
-tests moderate distance and requires keeping it in the fairway

Cons:

-totally wide open except the tall grass rough, a few trees right in front of the basket on hole 4, mando on hole 6
-tall grass rough always sucks
-tee mats are not flat underneath

Other Thoughts:

Chapel Hill DGC sits on a large, open field behind Georgetown Church of the Nazarene. The course starts at the back right side of the building behind the playground. Look for the metal rods in the ground with the white-painted tips and you should see the rubber mat tees. They're not level underneath but they are a little bit better than nothing and help with the navigation.

Since the course relies entirely on tall grass rough and OB, it's actually pretty easy to follow the layout. That's the only positive there though as I think tall grass is an awful design feature. But I guess the designers here thought it was better than nothing. The fairways start off on the narrower side but open up a bit on the longer holes. A few shorter holes start the course before opening up to just under 400'.

I guess it's nice to have 9 holes close by if you live near here but with Rivery and San Gabriel Park not that far away, not to mention everything down the road in Austin, there is very little draw for this course. Have fun, baggers!

A good start; needs work 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 2, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Right off of 130, easy to get to.
Some interesting basket placements on holes 4 and 5; tucked behind bushes so you're shooting blind and have to trust to your upshot.
Plays quickly: a solo player can definitely finish the 9 in 30 minutes.
Open field means strong wind, so forces you to adjust your shots accordingly.

Cons:

No signage. Unless you look at the pictures on DGCR, you have no idea that some holes are islands or that there are mandos on certain holes.

No Teepads. They're just marked with a painted fence post sticking out of the ground, up to you to determine the pad, I guess.

Not a ton of variety on shots, mostly just straight at it with one dogleg left. Some slight elevation changes, but you're playing in a large field, so not much.

Some awkward backtracking on fairways to get to the next tee (6 walking to 7, I think).

Baskets aren't numbered. Given that it's an open field, it's sometimes easy to get confused about which basket you're throwing to.

Tall grass makes it easy to lose discs if you don't have a spotter.

Other Thoughts:

It might be interesting to play this with the long grass as hazards.

Thankfully, they have a decent map in the Udisc app for this course, otherwise you'd just be guessing which baskets you're supposed to be throwing at. Once they get teepads and proper sigange, it'll definitely be more doable.

With no natural obstacles, it will be completely dependent on someone keeping the fairways mowed to know where you're throwing, which could be problematic long term. Still, while it needs some work, it's nice to have another short 9 hole course in the area, just for variety.
