Good Starter Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 6, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Nice Baskets
-Decent Tee Signs
-Some varied length

Cons:

-Natural Tees
-Kinda short
-Overly generous pars
-Many hazards with other park activities (see below)
-Park can get busy (or so I hear)

Other Thoughts:

Clarinda Lied Center DGC plays around the grounds of the Lied Center in Clarinda, IA. A multipurpose park surrounding the center, there are baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, 2 playgrounds, a large swing set, a new walking path, and a couple of shelters all in the park area. The DGC works its was around most of that. #1 throws around the volleyball and horseshoe, #3 throws toward the restroom and playground and over a sidewalk, #4 is back over the sidewalk, #5 has sidewalk and parking behind it. There is a bit of a walk to #6, but it throws around another playground area, #7 around the large swing, #8 has the sidewalk behind it, #9 throws to a basket near the street. Mostly short throws, but a good course to learn control for the novice, which is needed of there is much going on with the other park activities. Longest hole is #9 at 345', the rest under 300'. Pars are very generous as my 10 under scored an 861. Will give a confidence boost to the novice, a few ace runs for the more seasoned. What is here is nice. I played on a quiet Friday late afternoon, there were few others in the park. I can see higher traffic being a problem. #9 shooting toward the street could land some discs out there (right on Old Hwy 2). Maybe shorten that hole and move it in a little, add some concrete pads and this one bumps a little. A good starter course, with a few hazards. I enjoyed my round. Not in the area much, but would throw a quick round here again.

A bit crowded 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 16, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

+ Nice park - well maintained
+ Parking, Restrooms, Water fountain
+ Varied hole lengths (140 to 345 feet)

Cons:

- Busy Park and throwing over other activities

Other Thoughts:

Pretty typical park course. Some of the nearby playground equipment and horse shoe pits are in the way. As long as other park users are not there this is a decent course to get out and play around.

Interesting Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 14, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great for beginners. Plenty of parking and amenities (You can go to the inground pool in midst of the course if you like!). Nearby food/restrooms available. All holes are on a level plane; so this course is imminently wheelchair accesible.

Cons:

One hole you have to throw around/over horseshoe pits; and another over a playground area; so if there are any people in those areas you'll have to be really careful.

Other Thoughts:

Of the 9 holes, 8 are aceable; so that, in itself, is worth playing there.
