Pros:
-Use of terrain and wooded areas (See also cons)
-Good tee signage
-Mix of open / tunnel shots
-Lines for most are OK
-Play around other park activities
Cons:
-#3 tees right over #2 basket
-#5 plays over the road
-Older baskets, tough to locate
-Map would have been helpful, especially to find tee 2 and 7
-More space to utilize, 18 holes possible, a wrap back toward the parking lot would be nice
-Natural tees, a few old tee signs remain, in differing spots
-No benches / trashcans
-1/8 mile walk back to the parking area after basket 9 (part of the trek back going through the #5 fairway)
Other Thoughts:
Corydon Lake Country Park DGC plays in the above named park on the east side of Cordon, IA. An older 9 hole that has some updated tee signage (I thought recently, but the dated pics show them in 2012). The course plays in the center section of the east side of the park with only hole 9 really having the lake in play (although a really errant throw on 5 could go that way). What is here makes good use of terrain, especially on 1-5 and then more wooded holes for 6-8. #9 is sandwiched between trees on the left and lake on the right. There is more space, especially where the 6-9 holes run, that would have lent to more. There are some dangers early with #3 teeing over the #2 basket and #5 teeing over the road. A reconfigure adding holes to the wooded area, especially if there could be more of a loop would add, as would the standard concrete pads and benches/trashcans. It was a quick play, so if you need a quick 9, are in the area, it would be OK. I might play again, if in the area.
