Another HS course around fields and parking lots 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 10, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Baskets
+Some markers are there, they aren't very helpful
+A little bit of elevation on the property
+Probably won't lose a disc here
+Might introduce more young players to the sport of disc golf.
+I would have like to have a course around my HS despite the fact that it would be as bad or worse than this one.
+Most holes are ace runs

Cons:

-Mostly open, the wooded holes are short enough that it is too easy to hit a line.
-No tees
-Navigation markings are falling apart/missing
-Pretty flat
-I don't like courses that throw too close to parking lots and fences. Dangerous and annoying.
-No real fun factor

Other Thoughts:

+Great thing for the kids but I wouldn't bother if you don't go to school here. Unless, you're a course bagger like me.
+Scarper makes some good points. A lot of these kids aren't going to have the luxury to hop in the car and drive to a nicer course. Even the worst courses are better than nothing.
+I also think scarper overrated the course to balance out the lowball first rating.

Not a joke 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 21, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Easy, play if you want to feel good about yourself. Great for beginners.

Cons:

Markings have worn or fallen off. One confusing transition.

Other Thoughts:

I am currently a student at Delano High School. This is the course that introduced me to disc golf.

The first thing I will mention, is that this is a casual course. It runs around the football field. It is used by gym classes. It has introduced me any many other people to the sport.

It should not be compared to professionally maintained courses, as I said it is a CASUAL course. If you came to the course expecting a challenge, you came to the wrong place.

Here is a breakdown of the holes. Sorry I don't have distances.

Hole 1: Downhill, the scariest hole because it is next to a parking lot.

Hole 2: Straight ahead, against the tennis courts.

Hole 3: In the woods, behind some trees, not visible from the box.

Hole 4: In the woods, uphill, chains are just outside of the woods.

Hole 5: Long hole, straight ahead. Everyone plays it as Par 4.

Hole 6: Straight ahead, next to a baseball field.

Hole 7: In the woods, multiple trees in the way of the chains.

Hole 8: In the woods, trees create a wide tunnel shot.

Hole 9: Straight ahead, easy to get disc on the track, slightly uphill.

The holes are short, as the course is for beginners. All are played as par 3, except for hole 5.

The worst aspect of the course is the fact that there are no markings. There are white posts at every box, but the markings have been worn or have fallen off. It really doesn't matter though, start at the hole closest to where you parked your car or wherever else you want to.

It is VERY easy to find your way around the course, except for the confusing transition between holes 5 and 6. You have to walk up the side of the baseball field to get to the box.

To address the only point in TheSteveKelzer's review that I haven't already covered, this course should not be ripped up. It is of great value to beginners and people looking to have a bit of fun.

The Bottom Line:
Play the course with friends, you won't have fun without them. Keep an open mind about who the course is meant for. Don't compare your experience at this course to any other course. You can have fun here, but only if you want to.

Edit 8/4/14: I took a sharpie to the white posts and drew some numbers on them. This should alleviate some of the confusion. Also, a new fence is being put in right in the middle of hole 9, I expect it will be moved. I did not mark that post with a number.

This course is a joke 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 5, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy to find.

Cons:

Pathetically short holes. Only one hole requires you to put any tilt-turning into your disc, every other hole is straight. You often times have to walk WAY out of your way to the next hole. No markers, signs or directions

Other Thoughts:

This course should be ripped up. It is not even worth having there.
