Pros:
The course is on the front nine of the De La Veaga golf course, which provides a gorgeous venue - manicured fairways, huge old-growth pines and redwoods, and gently rolling terrain. It wasn't too hard to find our way. The pro shop has maps, though the map is mostly a mix of dark grey and black (still decipherable). The tees are well-marked, with most of them on cart paths. One tee (a turf mat) was pretty full of mud.
Favorite holes: 3, 6, 9, 14, 15.
Cons:
The course follows the main cart path in a counterclockwise loop around the front nine, so there are a lot of holes that require left-to-right throws that begin on the path and end near it. While many of them would be a nice hole on its own, there's a lot of redundancy. I have my own way of rating whether a course is lefty or righty where a strong advantage (or an advantage on a scoring hole) is two points, a slight advantage is one point, and neutral is zero. By my count, this course is 17 to 4 as a lefty course. If you're a righty, it's a great place to practice turnover drives.
Other Thoughts:
Would be a 3.5, but the relatively high price keeps it at a 3.0.
