Great course for the area 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 22, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is part of a nature park which is nice as it tends to lend itself to less foot traffic from other park goers. Course flows well and with only one hole playing on top of another there shouldn't be much of backup if a full tourney was ran here. The holes that play in the woods are fair and have well defined fairways. The open holes have nice short cut grass (not short enough for rollers unfortunately). Prodigy baskets stand out well and some holes can be seen directly from the tee area. Practice basket, warm up area, driving range and soon to come Pro Shop will make this course unique to the area.

Cons:

Natural tee pads are basically dirt or some places grass. These will be mud pits in the new few months as more people play the course. Turf pads, rubber mats or even concrete here would be a vast improvement. Hole distances are repetitive as most holes are between 290'-330'. Most holes also tend to follow the natural flight path of a RHBH thrower and there is a lack of variety of shots. Of the woods holes only two really have lefty lines.

Other Thoughts:

This is a white level course. That being said it is a fun and sometimes challenging course. The two par fours play fairly easy so long as you have a decent drive. The woods holes are tight but fair. However if you get off the fairway you will be punished as some of the underbrush still needs to be cleaned up. Several thorny bushes and poison ivy was seen off the fairway. Be careful.

Course is located about 30 miles from Milledgeville and for the golfers that play the courses there should definitely make the trip. There are two schools located right near the course and hopefully they will utilize the course for after school activities.
