Safari Putt Putt practice 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 21, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

It's nice that this neighborhood has some baskets to practice on. This elementary school has five baskets which can be used ideally to introduce kids to the sport. There are maybe a couple of concrete tee pads, but if there's a course 'design' here, it's not clear. I am adding a layout map, so you can decide if you want to make something interesting enough out of it to want to stop by.

There are opportunities here to just make some safari golf shots, and to practice approaches and putting. The basket closest to the school building has a large tree, a fence line, and the building to work off of. The one farthest from the building actually has some trees nearby to 'complicate' the green a little. The other three are wide open.

Cons:

Definitely not worth going more than five minutes out of your way to play. I just stopped in because I play 'em all!

Other Thoughts:

Normally, I'll visit a course multiple times before writing a review, out of respect to those who design and install courses. Since this doesn't seem to have a 'design', I hope nobody minds if I don't stop in again... ;)

Not really a "course", but OK for practice 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 13, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

good for practicing shorter drives or putts
lawn is kept mowed
baskets are intact
open and generally deserted

Cons:

only one tee I saw
only 4 baskets
no signs/no actual course layout

Other Thoughts:

It's pretty much been made clear, this isn't actually a course. It's fine if you want to practice drives (like I did today) or putting or something, and there's nothing wrong with the baskets, but I'm not sure what the purpose of putting it in really was. It's not worth going to unless you just want somewhere convenient/open to practice.

Only for Practice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 27, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great for practice and strength and that is all. Great for your long drives.

Cons:

You gotta make your own course up and its way too open.

Other Thoughts:

I liked it because of the openness of the holes to practice my drives.

Practice Course ONLY 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 24, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

There will be NO ONE else playing if you decide to play.
4 of the 5 baskets are in a wide open area for midrange and putting practice.
1 of the 5 baskets is in a wooded area for more practice.
There is roughly 3 concrete tee boxes one of which facing the large field good for driving practice.
Easy to get to for folks living on the East side of town.

Cons:

No Markers
No actual holes just 5 random cages and a few tee boxes.
Not well maintained as a whole for the park.

Other Thoughts:

If you are by yourself and want to practice with a space of your own this is the park to go to. DO NOT EXPECT A COURSE and DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING DIFFICULT. You can get creative and we should all refer to it as the Dixie Driving Range and Putting Greens because thats what you get with it.

Not Really a Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 6, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This 5 hole "course" has decent DGA baskets. It is on a well maintained elementary school property. On a windy day like when we played it, the open and flat nature of the land allows you to practice your wind game.

Hole "7" has a nice green guarded by mature trees.

Cons:

The "course" only has 5 baskets still in the ground and 3 marked tee pads (concrete, decent size). However, only 2 holes (we believe) are still completely intact, meaning that there is actually both a marked tee pad and existing basket.

The 5 baskets that are still there don't really go together well, meaning either very long holes that would require throwing over the tops of other baskets (and that I could not imagine would be approriate for elementary schoolers), or very long walks between baskets and "tee pads."

This is basically simply a safari course. Three of us took turns making up a 5 hole course. Even with that, the wide-open nature of the course makes it less than exciting.

Other Thoughts:

I can't imagine that this course would be worth playing unless you were simply practicing aspects of your game and happened to live extremely close to the course. Even as a safari course, the property is lacking in anything that might make it enjoyable.

Baskets missing 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 7, 2005 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are a few baskets which could be used for putting practice - nothing else.

Cons:

Baskets missing.
Baskets damaged.
Course not defined - Couldn't find all the baskets.
Don't bother looking for this one.

Other Thoughts:

Maybe this was a viable 9 hole course at one point but not when I found it. I saw it listed near me and went to play it - boy was that a waste of gas & time. These baskets would be better served being pulled out of the ground and used as part of an actual course somewhere else.
