Pros:
Shot Selection: creative shots featured, would need backhand/forehand throughout.
Cement Tees, long and short offered,
Plays away from any activity that may be occurring at the park.
Innova DiscCatchers in good shape.
Cons:
I would think if the parks dept didn't come through and mow, this would be a jungle. Their efforts make playing some of the Course possible,
No weed-eating done in quite awhile, my round started with finding the #1 basket surrounded by vegetation, with weeds growing up through the basket itself.
Making your way to each Tee pad, walking through tall growth, to find areas mowed, as previously noted.
No signage, directional indicators that I did find were simple wooden blocks with marker affixed to trees. Baskets not numbered.
Couldn't determine any direction to throw to #7, found the basket, looked back and still couldn't figure out where it once may have had a fairway.
#8 is a cool top-of-the-world shot, had 3 foot tall weeds in front of the Tee, no idea how to get to the Pin, in turn, no way to get to # 9 Tee. #9 basket visible from uphill where you'd exit, but looked totally overgrown.
Other Thoughts:
This is a course in 'slow growth' according to the Course Description, not sure if the project has just run out of steam.
Kudos the designers for the creative holes, unfortunate if the development is just going south.
It takes a village to raise a course, and without manpower, can be tough to get it fully installed.
With some more upkeep, this would easily be a 3-star 9-hole, with a full 18, 3.5, possibly higher,
**UPDATE** All the upkeep issues I encountered in Summer '19 were resolved on this visit.
The course flow gets a little tricky after #5-it appears you backtrack to the #5 tee, exit,go left, and there's a path on the left that goes to #6, Tee on the right.
After teeing off on #8, it looks that the only way to make your way down the hill is to go back the way you came from #7, go past the #7 basket, and there's a 4x4 style trail. Go right, and it leads to the fairway of #8.
Path out from #9 is just adjacent to the basket, going left.
Bumped my rating up due to the much-needed and appreciated hard work that went into clearing the Course up.
Without Tee signs, adding some simple numbers to the baskets would be a good addition, help people feel confident they're following along properly.
