Nice course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 1, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

New baskets really nice. Navigating the course was no problem at all for me it seemed to flow very well. The few times I thought I was lost I found a small white marker near the ground pointing the path to the next hole.

Cons:

DON'T SET YOUR BAG DOWN IN FIRE ANTS!! Fire ants are all around in the sandy hills. I still have ant bites all over my back.

Other Thoughts:

Drive to the back of the park. Find the plexi-glass park sign, take a pic of the overhead course map. Hole 1 is to the left of the sign. I only had to pull up the pic of the course a couple of times and i did skip 7 & 8 because I couldn't easily find the pad for 7. I was in a hurry so I just played 9 it is right after hole 6. I also saw a few 4ft black snakes one was sunning on the pad so look out for snakes. And there are thousands of small floridian lizards/chameleons. Nice flat course. Some tight fun lies and walks through what seems like african jungle to this ohio native.
Some of the holes you can't see the basket but every hole I believe had a hole layout or map sign visual. A few of them seem to point in the wrong direction but they all give the footage markers so getting close was easy.

Burton Smith Disc Golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 27, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Challenging and fun course with a lot of tight holes and alternate basket placements. Recently this course started to be maintained on a weekly basis so the grass is always mowed and some of the shrubs were cut down, which is good, it was becoming overgrown! I play on a weekly basis and enjoy the challenging holes. The back nine has a lot of opportunities for an easy birdie. More than the front nine, but does have a lot of tighter holes where you need a bit more accuracy and cannot throw for power. The front nine is a bit more open, but has the most challenging holes of the course, hole # 6 and hole # 8, the 2 water holes. Hole # 6 is probably the most difficult of the two because the lake is a good size lake and loves to gobble up discs. If a lot of your discs heizer, then watch out. I really enjoy the 2 extra holes that make this a 20 hole course. All the baskets are from the old Rockledge course so some are worn, but they are slowly changing out the chains and tightening the baskets. All holes are marked and the signage allows for alternate placement too, which is always marked as well. Fun course for all!

Cons:

A lot of trees and palm brush. Some holes you have to be so precise or your disc will definitely find a nice big palm tree to hit. Tends to flood a lot when we have a lot of rain.

Other Thoughts:

Can get crowded on the weekends. I usually play at 8 or 9 in the morning on Sundays and there are always about 10 to 15 guys already out there. make sure you bring a golf ball retrieval pole. It is a a great tool to have with you when your discs get stuck in the high palms!

Fun course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 30, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Short but challenging course with lots of different shot techniques necessary to conquer, good mix of woods and open area holes. Several challenging water holes. Two new additional holes (hole 11A & B). Usually well manicured.

Cons:

Mosquitos are out of control in the summer, drainage is an issue with heavy rains.

Other Thoughts:

I play this course about 3 times a week. In the summer, heavy duty DEET bugspray is a must... the mosquitos will swarm you and eat you alive otherwise. The drainage on the course is not good, and there is a lot of standing water after heavy rains.

The longest hole is probably around 400 - 450 feet.

If you can brave it, this is a great course with lots to offer. As a single you can complete it in less than an hour.

Pros:

Lots of fun technical shots. You might see an alligator or two if you look hard enough. Holes that challenge your drive as well as your finess and short game.

Cons:

One odd switchback walk but not as bad as other courses I've seen. Need a course map or a guide the first time you play. Don't go in the water.

Other Thoughts:

One of the nicest courses on the Atlantic side of FL that I've played..
