+ No crowds. This is partially because of requiring Base access to play it, and partially because of the reasons listed under Cons.
+ Nine functioning baskets.
+ Fairly long course with chances to practice distance driving.
+ Good use of terrain. The course is located in a spot that doesn't have a lot of elevation change or trees. But the way the course is laid out at least feels like a designed disc golf course, rather than just nine baskets in an open flat field.

- Terrible maintenance. The first time I tried to play was in the summer, and I turned around and went home rather than play a round in thigh-to-waist high grass and weeds. I have driven by the course a handful of other times in the summer months to see if it is maintained, and consistently the answer has been "no." It seems that they mow the weeds once in the fall, and that's about it.
- Teepads are rubber and are disintegrating.
- No course signage. No clear place to park. And with how little the course is used, there's not enough foot traffic to make clear walking paths between holes. Add it all up and this course would literally be impossible to navigate without uDisc.
- No exciting or memorable holes. The location isn't good for disc golf, so even though the baskets are optimally placed it still isn't a course that's very fun.

Falcon's Nest is tough to access, not maintained, tough to navigate, and with zero memorable holes to reward you for its shortcomings. It really isn't even somewhere I'd recommend to practice in solitude, since the lack of maintenance creates a high risk for disc loss if you're throwing multiples. Unless you're a diehard course bagger this place isn't worth your time.

You most likely will have the whole course to yourself. This course is a great place to work on all aspects of your game without being bothered by any other players. This is a great course to take beginners/family for a private round of disc golf.

The course is not always maintained. The tee pads can be hard to find without the course map handy. You will need to have access to Hill AFB to play this course.

There is a map for the back 9 of this course but there are no baskets anywhere in the back 9 area. So this course is basically a front 9 basket course. Permenant tee pads, Next tee pad signs, and a few mando trees would improve this course greatly!

Fun to play on base. They had to cut trees getting ready to add to the airfield, but we will keep the map up to date. We painted a few mandos for fun (just arrows).

This course is always empty. I have been to it multiple times now and I have only ever seen one other group of people. So at least when you play the course you are likely to have it to yourself.

The area is beautiful. There is a very large maintained field here as well that makes a good location for practicing throws. The course is also very open, but the baskets are still placed in places that can be a little challenging. Some holes have a good bit of length to them to.

This course is also located next to the runway on base so you get to watch planes take off every now and then.

Unfortunately the few pros are outweighed by the large amount of cons...

First of all, this course is barely played. I have this as a pro but it is also a con because it leads to this course being really run down. The tee locations are barely maintained and there are absolutely no trails going from holes to tees so it can be hard to find your way around and a pain to walk through the weeds in the course.

This course has also fallen into disrepair. There should be ten baskets on this course, but the baskets for holes #5 and #6 are gone. These were the closest to the main road so I am just assuming that someone took them. In addition the tee pad for hole #8 is nowhere to be found and all of the other tee pads are almost impossible to find as they are slowly being overgrown.

This course is almost impossible to find as well. There are no signs and the main road leading to hole #1 is marked for utilities use only.

Since this course has no signage and some holes are missing you will probably do what I do and just make up your own hole layout.

To get there drive to the old east gate of the base. Right before you get to the old small gatehouses there is a small dirt road that turns off to the left. Take this to an overgrown paved road and take a left. Drive north on that overgrown road until you come to a turn in a the road (the ball golf course starts here to). Pull off the road before the turn. The tee for hole #1 is off the east side of the road and throws west south west to basket #1 located between the large trees. Good luck.

I was pleasantly surprised by this course, and would give it a much better rating if not for the cons that I'll cover in a second.

The area is absolutely beautiful. You get to play disc golf while jets take off over your head! How cool is that?

The baskets are in great shape. The holes are great lengths. Only one 280ish hole, the rest were easily 300+ which was nice. There is a TON of space out there and it's used in a very fluid way with great use of elevation and trees to make shots tough.

Multiple tee pads on nearly every hole. Some of the "pro" tee pads were pretty crazy.

There's a bonus 10th hole which throws back toward the tee pad for 1. I hear there is another basket somewhere also but I didn't see it.

There are a few cons that really bring the rating for this little gem down. First of all, it's on the base, so you have to have someone sponsor you to go on there if you aren't already authorized. This means that the course isn't used much. Sounds awesome, right? No! Because of this it is neglected. The weeds can be insane and make finding even the tee pads extremely difficult, much less your discs.

The tee pads are a bit rough and uneven. They aren't horrible, but watch your step.

The baskets are mobile, which isn't horrible, but it means that people can move the baskets around, which they do. I updated the course map for where they currently are, but that will probably change.

No tee signs, (probably because the baskets get moved around) and the numbers on the baskets don't match up, making the flow a bit awkward. Lucky for me I had a guide.

This really was a surprisingly good course. I had expected a few baskets in the middle of a knee-high field of weeds, but I was happy to see a well designed, fun and challenging course.

Park at the NE corner of the field by going to the East end of Golf Club Rd. The tee pad for hole 1 is on the East side of the road and throws West. The pad for 2 is the only one that's not really easy to see from the basket of the previous hole. It's on the hill North of the basket for 1 and throws SW.

If it were well-maintained then this could score a 3-3.5 rating, but alas.

Beautiful surroundings, a few baskets placed on nice manicured "ball" golf grass. NO crowds, actually not a single person in sight.

No signage whatsoever. Very poor layout, some baskets have numbers on them, others don't. Some of the 9 baskets are portable so it looks as though others have moved them as they like. Tee pads are super narrow rubber type and not staked to ground.

I had the opportunity to play the DGC at Hill AFB, "Falcon's Nest". The course currently has 9 baskets, but the area the Air Force has designated for the course has the potential to easily become a 18 pin course. It's obvious not too many people play the course. It took me a while to find a place to park, after which I was hassled twice by the Air Force cops, not because my car was parked illegaly, but just because they told me that they never see cars parked on the side of the road before. I told them that I was there to disc golf and they had no idea a course was even there! Not too wise of their own surroundings. The course was impossible to navigate due to no signs, so I pretty much made up my own course. I enjoyed the layout, there are trees to deal with and winds were a constant, around 10 to 20 mph. This course could easily deserve a 4 rating if some TLC was given to it. But as with many other disc courses on military installations, they are rarely taken care of due to the nature of the transient lifestyle of military members. Play it if you are there and can get on to the base, nice way to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Layton Utah. BRP
