Fun small park course

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 25, 2023 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is a 9 hole course located in Lions Park. In addition to the disc golf course, the park also features a playground, pavilions with grills, and a small dock for fishing in the Otter Tail River. For every visit I have made to this course, I have always observed the course and entire park to be clean, with the grass mowed short. Each hole has a bright red sign that displays the hole number, par, and distance. The baskets are strong, sturdy, DGA baskets that are attached to a concrete base. The course has an easy flow, which is easy to follow even for a player who plays the course for the first time.

Cons:

I found nothing that I did not like with the course, or the park in general. There is a largescale commercial turkey farm that borders the park property to the west. The farm has several large buildings that each house thousands of turkeys. A couple of the buildings are the length of football fields. The farm sometimes omits an odor from the thousands of turkeys and the turkey droppings. There have been a couple of times where I noticed the odor, particularly along hole 4, the basket for hole 3, and the tee for hole 9, which are the closest to the farm property. The odor will likely be noticed in the park on days when there is a wind or breeze coming from the west.

Other Thoughts:

The entire length of the course is 1,850 feet, which is below average for a 9 hole course. The overall par for the course is 30, which is generous. Most of the holes are very beginner friendly. Experienced players, and those who can throw at above average distances, can likely get by with only a couple of putters and a couple of mid-rangers. Experienced players with above average throwing arms will love the opportunity to score aces on several of the holes with the use of a mid-ranger or putter.

Pros:

Very straightforward course. Great for beginners and loved by the locals.

Cons:

Fairly close together holes that overlap.

Other Thoughts:

If driving through this town, it's definitely worth stopping to check out since there aren't too many in the surrounding area, plus you get to see the world's largest turkey!
