Pros:

Newly installed 9 hole permanent course on the well-manicured property of Freehold Boro High School. Sufficiently sized tee pads made from 1' x 1' step stones and wood perimeter. Brand new Innova DISCatcher baskets with blue rims stand out. Each hole has a 4' x 6' post with a nicely printed aluminum sign showing par, distance and map. Small orange arrows are affixed to the very top of each basket pointing players to the next tee. Manageable distances and straightforward layout maximize the potential for student success. Modest elevation is incorporated into the layout and there is a 370 foot high school par 4 hole where kids can air it out.

Cons:

Course is short and doesn't really allow for shot-shaping. Pad 6 is not truly in line with the basket location. There are a couple of spots where careless throws could wind up in someone's back yard. The course weaves in and around athletic fields, limiting access after school.

Other Thoughts:

The Jersey Shore Disc Golf Club has finally fulfilled its mission of installing a course at all six schools in the Freehold Regional High School District! The Freehold Boro course presents yet another opportunity for area students to learn the sport and improve their skills. It is a straightforward layout with modest distances, yet there is enough OB areas to keep players honest; Fences and asphalt come into play on several holes and require a thoughtful approach off the tee. Navigation is pretty intuitive and the course successfully intertwines with existing facilities.

For a fun day, consider playing this course along with two or three other school 9-holers within a 20 minute radius. Clubs have been formed at three of the six schools and hopefully inter-school competition is not far behind!
