A quick play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 18, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

- The baskets look like and catch like Innova Discatcher pro baskets. They are easy to see and are good discs.
- Tee signs were great to have since it was sometimes hard to know where the basket was for each hole
- Strategic placement of the baskets guarded by trees to add a small bit of difficulty
- Varying distances, which helped each hole be unique and create variety
- Some holes were wooded, whereas some were completley open. The mixture of holes was pretty good.
- Ample parking for the course
- This course can be played super fast. I believe it took me 25 minutes to play, which makes this an easy play before and after work or if you are pressed for time.
- Good course for a beginner
- Very small chance of losing a disc, which makes it even more beginner friendly.

Cons:

- Natural tee boxes. While this wasnt a huge issue, some of the tees were muddy and were not possible to tee off from.
- Lots of holes fairways crossed one another. This is pretty dangerous, especially if the course is busy on a particular day.
- The biggest con I would say would have to be the fact that this course plays right through the City Park. There are many other uses for the park, and on a nice day, there will be many pedestrians out and about either walking the concrete trail that the course runs parallel by and crosses almost every hole, the baseball field that could be intruded by a bad throw off the #3 tee, playground that is too close to the course, and even picnic benches that sit in the fairways or right next to baskets. This course is almost unplayable on a nice day due to the danger that comes along with it.
- While some distances were longer, this was a pretty easy course. There were no technical throws needed to get to the basket. Most baskets were lined up perfectly with the tee sign, which yielded a straightshot course. I wouldve liked to have seen the park overall used in a more challenging way for the course.
- The layout gets tricky in some spots, and since there arent actually tees, it was hard sometimes to find the next tee, since it wa marked simply with a wooden post in the ground.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, this is a nice course for the people of Gentry to own. This is a very good beginner course and can be played very quickly. On a busy day, danger lurks because of the other people using the park for other activities. This course was fun and is worth the time to make a quick stop!

Fun Short Course Close to Home 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 4, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A decent 9 hole course close enough to play a quick round in the evenings and on short notice.
Good baskets.
decent hole placements and varying distances

Cons:

Sometimes have to wait on pedestrians before throwing especially on nice warm days, and parking lot and playgrounds could prove hazardous

Other Thoughts:

local school has soccer practice at times and makes throwing impossible on one or two holes. have been able to make up my own replacement hole tho by throwing to a different basket. 👍

Full 9 Holes Course Now 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 17, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Short beginner friendly drives with tree protected holes, as well as, open drives. Good DISCatcher baskets cemented into place. Minimal marker posts on hole 1 & 3 with basic signage.

Update 5/17/14: 6 more holes have been added! Most with baskets nestled behind trees to create interest.

Cons:

Short length and only 3 baskets. Hole 2 marker pole and signage missing. No designated drive pad or markings.

Update: All holes with good signage now. To get long holes and all holes to fit in this park there are some crossing fairways and throws over sidewalks and soccer fields. Be aware of pedestrian traffic when you throw. I would love to see concrete pads and at the very least some designation to tee off box.

Other Thoughts:

Take care when driving a hyzer over the childrens play area to the right of the fairway on hole 3. Also note that there can be mud in the fairway of hole #2 and 3 after a rain. Must play around a baseball field at hole #2. I sometimes play back from hole #3 in the reverse direction to get another 2 holes in.

Update: I am thrilled that this is in my backyard basically. Looks like a fun little course I can play nightly without having to drive some distance. I am still hoping Siloam Springs and/or JBU will put in a 18 hole course in the near future.
