Frustrating Potential

Reviewed: Played on:May 15, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

New baskets; attractive property; plenty of parking; port-a-potty available; nice tee signs (but see below).

Cons:

Baskets not numbered leading to confusing navigation (no map available); no tee pads but several holes tee off from paved paths or parking lots.

Other Thoughts:

I started off here with the best of intentions to draw a map and to supply more photos. I drove around back and parked near the main church entrance (you pass hole 2 on your way to the back). It took e a few holes to realize that the tee signs are parallel to the fairways i.e. for LHBH you should face the sign and for RHBH you should have your back to the sign.

The tee for #1 is just to the left of the main entrance into the church. It plays across an area with a basketball court and other athletic equipment to a basket behind a couple of bushes back near the entrance road. Short and fun but obviously not playable if any of the athletic area is in use. Then you walk across the entrance road to the tee for #2. The basket for #2 is up on the ridge behind the parking lot on the left hand side. Overthrows can lead to rollaway and OB but not a serious problem. The tee for #3 is in the middle of the big parking lot about 3 or 4 rows away. From the tee you can see a basket up on a small hill near the church. As you are throwing across parking lot which is all OB, I played it safe to a nice grassy area. When I got there I saw there was another basket in that same area off to the right. With no numbers, it was unclear which was the #3 basket so I just played the one to which I had landed closer. Was the other basket a practice basket or maybe #9? Don't know. From swatso's picture, I knew #4 played along the pond edge with a fairway that had trees protecting you from the water. Never found the tee but played to the basket from where I best guessed was a good tee off spot. Then came confusion. The next tee sign I saw was for #1 but a completely different #1 where I had no idea where the basket was supposed to be. So I continued on and found #2 - a different #2 for which I uploaded a picture (#2???). There were a few baskets around but now no clear plan as to which basket went with which tee. I found a tee sign for #5 which is different than the one swatso found. Thus I just made up the holes from there on. When I played #9, I was again presented with the same two baskets as on #3 so I played to the one that I didn't use on #3.

Frustrating as I'm sure there is a decent course here but it was too annoying to try to guess at the intentions. When a map becomes available, I will give it another try and update my review/rating. The holes throwing over parking lots will never rate very highly with me. I did not attempt to add a map and I stopped taking pictures after a while as I wasn't sure I knew which way the holes played.
