Elementary Pitch-Putt 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 3, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

H. E. Corley Elementary DGC is a short 9 hole course that sits in the back yard of its school . The school has pre kindergarten thru 5th grade students . There are no bathrooms but parking is adequate . Getting to the back lot and front of the course involves several extra streets .
The tees here are natural , and the signs are small wood ones maybe a foot or so off the ground . The baskets are yellow banded Discatchers .
The course plays very short , all holes ranging from 61' to 164' , so any adults , and some kids , are going to have ace runs the whole time .
The course was mowed and landscaping here is above average . There are a lack of trees and just a couple of small hills , but the trees were factored in just like the hills . #4 basket is even up a little hill and behind a low canopied tree .
This course is a fast play . I finished in about 15 minutes .
Disc Risk - There is literally No Way to lose a disc here unless you leave it in the basket when leaving .
It is yet another activity for the school to get the kids outdoors and active .

Cons:

Safety might be a concern for the little kids and the disc golf area being windy some of the time . The school might want to add an ice pack or two for the amped up tykes .
Accessing this place was weird . You can see a basket from the main road , but you have to drive to a side street , go down a few hundred yards , turn right , go down a couple hundred yards , then turn right again . WOW ! A drivers test on navigation And disc golf within an hour ?!
Hours of operation are after 6 on school days . So , play on weekends or after dinner from late August thru May .
Having never played as a 5-11 year old , I don't know what a course like this looks like , but it is just an ace or deuce run for most .

Other Thoughts:

When I found out that the Sauls were the course designers , I almost burst out laughing . They designed a world class course on their grounds , with holes almost as long as all 9 holes here combined ( 972' ) . I don't intend on that being a put down . The course owes no apologies to anyone . It is designed with 5-11 year olds in mind . If I lived down the street , I would come up and work on my putt-approach game . During my brief stay here on an early Saturday afternoon , I saw a dad with his 2 young sons playing , so the course must be getting Some play . , It is always pleasing to have short course like these to both introduce the game and the school to the public . The Fun Factor is here , just in short spurts .
My Recommendation - This is the kind of course to best introduce disc golf to grownups like mom and dad as well as the children . 1 discers will enjoy it here , and locals can build up their ace stats and maybe even make up a side safari course . Putting practice for the experienced , and since it is right off of I-26 , this is a nice leg stretcher for the traveler and an easy bag for the course collector . The decision is yours !

Good place to practice approaches and putts 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 30, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course is very simple. No real obstacles. There is a little bit of elevation change which makes for great practice for putting and approaches. If I lived close by, I'd really enjoy this course to blast around for practice. The tees and holes are very easy to find.

Cons:

Playing all 9 holes takes less than 15 minutes. No obstacles, but you could definitely make your own holes to make the course longer and with more obstacles. There is next to no shade. One tree with a bench under it in the middle of the course and that is about it.

Other Thoughts:

There is plenty of room and opportunities to create your own holes. We made a hole that stretches from the back of the building by the gas lines to hole 3. This would be a fun course for children or people new to disc golf. If you are a well versed player, it is very boring.

Actually more fun than at first glance 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 15, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The rating is all relative to how course ratings go. I actually loved this little course. It serves its purpose.

My buddy actually aced hole 2. I don't care if it is 107ft, he aced it. It was his first ace and it made his day. That alone made it worth the drive.

Fun little pitch and putt. We took 3 discs and really only need a putter.

All signs were there. Nice, clean, accurate.

Definite battle course. You had to battle to see who was going to miss a birdie because you'd be a fool to not birdie every hole out there.

Cons:

No tee pads.

SHORT! But again, all relative.

No bathrooms.

Only open when school is not in.

Other Thoughts:

We played two 9 hole rounds. I shot -8 and -9. Then we went backwards safari on this mutha!!!!!!!! That was some of the most fun I've had playing dg in awhile. And to be honest...shhhhhh....come closer...I'll whisper it.... our made up holes were better than what they had laid out. But it's all good.

Started at Southeast, played Seven Oaks, and finished at H.E. Corley and couldn't of been happier!
