Pros:

Nice 6 hole course that makes good use of the land that is provided. It is a small park but able to fit in 6 holes and a practice basket near the parking lot. Had good concrete teepads and Discatcher baskets. Teesigns with pictures and an easy course flow make it more enjoyable as well. The course designer did a nice job utilizing the creek that runs through the park as well as adding in a mix of shots. Limited trees and obstacles but was able provide both RHBH and RHFH throws. Additionally, some added mandos a little more challenge to the round.

Cons:

There is nothing wrong with this course in terms of layout of bad design. The designer did the best he could with the limited space. He uses the creek, mandos and a variety of shots to add to the challenge. Only "con" would be that standing water was present when I played the course around the practice basket. Seems like flooding could be an issue after a rain.

Other Thoughts:

This is a quick fun round for course baggers like myself. One thing to add was the locals were awesome who I met in the parking lot. Super friendly and were excited to see someone else out enjoying their course.

Why not add 3 more holes? 2+ years

Pros:

Set in a nice park with mature trees
Plenty of parking, doesn't look like the park is ever busy
Nice welcome sign with course layout
Nice signage on each hole along with nice concrete teepads
Nice DisCatcher baskets, also have a putting basket or ring of fire basket
Well kept park, small amount of trash

Cons:

The big con is that it is only 6 holes
A few more trashcans would be a nice touch
I would have like to seen a little bit more difficulty for the holes they do have. However is a perfect course for beginners

Other Thoughts:

More baskets. The park seems to have plenty of room for more holes. I would think with Decatur being so close, that their club could help turn this course into a great location. Maybe something to look forward to.

very well done 2+ years

Pros:

-design makes great use of the space and doesn't cram too many holes into this small park, also avoids the horseshoe area pretty well too
-lots of trees in the park that are used well
-small creek in play on holes 1 & 5
-2 pin positions per hole; moderately tough greens with many low ceilings
-excellent concrete tee pads
-great tee signs at each hole showing hole number, distance to both pin locations, hole map, and next tee, and they have bag hooks
-new discatchers in great condition
-practice basket next to the parking lot
-kiosk with course map in front of the parking lot
-small parking lot but adequate for a course this size
-course provides an excellent but approachable challenge for newer players and is not necessarily easy for experienced players
-a few mandos, marked with tape, noted on the tee signs

Cons:

-only 6 holes
-only shorter holes; distances from 220' to 285'
-not much of a draw to come check out the course with only 6 holes

Other Thoughts:

This small park in Bridgeport, population 6,000, has a really well-designed course that uses the limited space well and makes the most of the trees. The holes all have a line that you must hit in order to reach the green off the tee.

The course equipment is all excellent. Concrete tees, detailed signs with bag hooks on the posts, new discatchers, practice basket, and a kiosk with a course map. There are also two pin positions on every hole and a great bridge to cross the creek that is in play on holes 1 and 5. The tee signs also say 1a, 2a, etc for each hole so maybe there are plans for alternate tees.

I thought the holes were fun and even for experienced players they are not easy birdies for many of the pin positions. They seemed to be mostly in the tougher positions when I played and I only carded 2 birdies and missed longer, low-ceiling putts for deuce on 2 more. For beginners par will be a good score and the creek presents limited danger. It's shallow but does have a lot of tall grass around it.

It's hard to rate this course because there are only 6 holes but those 6 holes are really well done. Two or three rounds here can be a fun experience and I'd be happy to have this course if it were the closest one to where I lived. If you're traveling this way to check out courses then it pairs well with Melba Doyle in Decatur, which also has 6 holes, as well as the other courses there in Decatur, Jones Park and Eagle Summit. Definitely worth playing if you are in Bridgeport.
