Needs some Love 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 4, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

(1.157 Rating) Only a couple positives at Harvest Church. The course is below average in all 5 of my rating categories. (Fun Factor, Character, Uniqueness, Beauty and Difficulty)
- SHOT SHAPING - Probably about average, but since I'm grasping for good things to say, I will mention that I did have to put some thought into my throws on many holes.
- QUICK PLAY - Someone who knows this course layout should easily complete a full 9 in under 30 minutes. Groups of 4 probably would finish in under an hour.
- EXPANDING THE GAME - No doubt will this course aid in introducing the sport by offering church members easy access to learn the game at a skill level friendly course.

Cons:

The Harvest Church course has the feel of abandonment.
- NAVIGATION - Wow its bad. I Couldn't find (1) tee. Its suppose to be somewhere near the entry of the property. No course map or directional cues either. Hole markers are missing on half of the holes and the ones that are left are falling apart. The pictures on DGCR don't reflect the current layout which is not surprising since the baskets are movable.
- BASKET AND TEE SEPARATION - There are numerous occurrences where the basket and next tee are perilously close. Several times they are separated by less than 40 feet.
- TEES AREA - The tees are grass and void of any permanent line markings for a tee edge. For the tees that still had post markers remaining, I teed adjacent to the post. As for the other holes without markers, (1, 7, 8 and 9) I had to improvise. I generally played the unmarked holes from about 10 feet out and added 4 aces to my totals.
- CHAINS - They are playable but among the oddest I've ever come across. I believe they are "Instep". They don't make that nice ching noise that you'd expect of the DGA's, DISCatchers or Chainstars. In addition, the chains are light and one basket is in disrepair.
- OVERGROWTH - Very thick overgrowth on many holes. Especially holes (6 thru 9) I missed my line by five feet on 7 and spent several minutes looking for it.
- TICKS - The most ticks I ever pulled off my body, post round. I'm at 152 courses as of this review.
- POISON IVY - Spotted on several holes on the back portion.
- MAINTENANCE - Course looks borderline abandoned. lots of 2 foot high grass and weeds along the layout. several large tree limbs were also down along the course layout.
- ELEVATION - Really none to speak of. Elevation change is limited to no more than 5 feet on any one hole.
- UNIQUENESS - In addition to absent elevation, the holes themselves in terms variety are below average. Most shots are wooded with a moderate amount of technique and precision required. No water in play and no doglegs. There was at least one hole marker stating a Par 4, but I was able to drive it with ease. There are also a few tunnel plays, tree gaps and pockets to hit. (See pros, shot shaping.)
- DIFFICULTY - Not knowing the full layout and not having permanent basket locations, I'm struggling to define how difficult this course really is. It's not a cake walk by any means with the amount of trees in play, but for the holes that were defined (2-6), I personally finished 2 under with a 900ish player rating. So probably below average difficulty.

Other Thoughts:

There are very few highlights with Harvest Church DGC. It really should only be played by church members and course baggers. I've played 3 of the 4 courses in Perry, GA, and can only recommend Rozar Park thus far.

Some baskets to throw at 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 24, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are a few basket that line up with a couple of the tees.
- you can be outside and practice putting

Cons:

-No tee pads
- many baskets missing
- the baskets are rusted and have no markings
- baskets are portable with many misplaced or missing
- very poor grounds

Other Thoughts:

If you just need some baskets to throw at this place does still exist but almost totally unplayable.

Harvest Church 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 22, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

-All holes at least had a 4" x 4" post with the hole # on it and were relatively easy to find.
-Navigation was pretty easy once you find the first tee (First tee located right by the entrance).
-Some decent holes (4, 5, and 6).

Cons:

-The closest parking lot to the first tee is by the playground and right beside hole 5's basket.
-Signs were missing on several holes (all had posts, though) and the holes with signs offered a vague map only.
-Harvest Church DGC is only 9 holes and 8's basket is missing. We played 8's tee to 9's basket to complete the 9-hole round.
-Baskets are Instep baskets with single chain only.
-The fairways for holes 5 and 7 are directly in the path of large drainage pipes and were flooded when we played.
-Several holes are short in length, but offer no chance for birdie as they force placement shots to a dogleg left or right. This practice is fine to an extent, but really should only be reserved for longer holes (not holes where you throw 100ft to landing zone and then another 100 ft to the baskt).
-Course does not play in a circle.
-Natural, unmarked tees.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, this course is passable, but has a lot of major issues that really hold it back from being decent. New baskets are needed, new tee signs, and concrete tees. The trails and woods around the church could be utilized to expand the course to 18 holes. I would only recommend this course as a quick play off the interstate or as a practice area.

Don't play here 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 20, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

1. Never busy outside of Sunday
2. Quiet, you will be completely alone on the course almost 100% of the time
3. Holes and gameplay aren't bad at all. Just everything else is.

Cons:

1. Awful grass tees, no markings
2. Pins are cheap and chain is plastic
3. One hole is right next to a playground and is unsafe if anyone is using it
4. Terrible signs and some do not have par marked
5. Trash everywhere
6. Rough is really rough. Nothing is maintained other than the grass being cut sometimes

Other Thoughts:

Horrible church course. I used to come out here when I worked nearby and just practice putting on hole 1's basket. They bought temporary baskets and placed them around church grounds. Nothing else has been done to the course besides tee signs since and the signs aren't even good. Do not play this course unless you are a bagger. I would expect this course to be extinct in 5 years or so.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 1, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is serviceable, I mostly just practice here since it the closest park to home.
-Pretty course
-Clean and quiet
-Not crowded at all

Cons:

-No bathroom
-No trashcans
-Navigation can be difficult, better signs could help here
-Not a fan of the holes that have you throwing over concrete areas
-Two holes a little two close to childrens play area for my taste

Other Thoughts:

Haven't been on a Sunday, so I'm not sure how, if at all, church services affect the course.

Could be really nice with some more love.

Nice Practice Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 9, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

1) Nice 9 hole course on quiet property
2) MANDOS make this course much better than it would be without.
3) Nice easy course to play in a hurry
4) A nice mix of short, technical holes, and longer power holes

Cons:

1) Grass tees (I don't mind, but i know some do)
2) Signs don't always face the hole...but do give enough guidance that you can figure it out
3) Holes 8 & 9 Will Be disc eaters if you miss your shot

Other Thoughts:

Overall A nice course to practice on, and a nice course to play If you live locally, instead of driving the 30+ miles and paying to play in macon.
