Great baskets and a decent layout in this small town park

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 16, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great looking, almost like new, white DD Patriot baskets.
Good tee signs, hole layout, distance and par.
Mix of open and wooded holes, and makes good use of the only elevation in the park.
Course has been changed to minimize interaction with other park users. Nice layout, with a variety of hole types for this small town park.

Cons:

#1 starts at one end of the park and #9 finishes at the other end, and not in a convenient area. The park isn't that large, so not a long walk between the two.
#1 and #2 are both open holes and close to the walking path, so there may still be some interaction with other park users.
Most of the tees are a carpet, turf mix, some are short and showing wear.
#6 plays along the property line down a tight fairway, it looks like a tree kick could put you over a neighbor's fence pretty easily.

Other Thoughts:

High Springs Sports Complex is your typical small town, pack everything in here park. A couple of ball fields, several soccer fields, playground, picnic shelters and, rather unusual, a BMX track.
#3 originally went around the outfield of one of the ballfields and #4 played along side one of the soccer fields, those two have been pulled, probably for good reason. After #2, walk across the soccer field toward the picnic shelter, after passing the picnic shelter, and a "practice" basket, you should see the sign for #3. The course flows pretty simple after that.
Holes #3 - #5 and #9 play through large, old-growth trees, and around and through a large pit/sinkhole? Good use of this area, even though #9 finishes (on a platform due to the slope) kind of in the middle, then you have the walk up and out of that area. #6 - #9 are mostly flat, wooded holes with #8 having a tight double Mando.
Overall, it looks like a good redesign, to avoid having the course pulled. Someone had some pull to get these nice, brand new baskets installed, tee signs made and the course installed. If I lived in this small town, or it was the closest course, I would come here often to get a quick round in. I'm glad I drove the extra 15 minutes to HS on my 2.5 hour drive to bag the Gainesville courses.
