Pros:

Quite entertaining piney course best suited for Red and White level players but still a fun romp for better players. The lake in the name is nice but not really in play so fear not, water carry phobic frolfers.

Off the bat you have surprisingly nice elevation change considering. The fairways are well-defined and the rough isn't too awful thick in general which is rare for a new course. The course starts out lulling you into a false sense of deuce-or-die with 2-3 really short holes but starts ratcheting up the distance after that. There's just enough hole shape variety that I was glad to have the whole bag but my score wouldn't have suffered much if I only brought putters, mids and favorite FH drivers.

There didn't seem to be much of anything else going on in this park other than some folks fishing off the dam. The trails weave around the course a lot but seldom come into play and seemed totally devoid of traffic despite the lovely Sunday I was there. So it's a good course to play free of distractions and NPCs.

Lots of holes are quite birdie-able but you do have to do at least a modicum of line-shaping for most of them. A few even tantalized you with what decision to make, i.e. FH flex shot or BH straight to fade. And then you have an open bomber hole in hole 13 to let you dust off a distance driver. Lots of length variety which is nice.

Good baskets, decent signs. Finding the next tee was a cinch.

Cons:

I downgraded pretty hard due to the tees. Currently they are pea-sized gravel and basically uneven as Hell. I teed to the side of a few of them just for the footing. Many of the holes are standstill putter or flick shots so it didn't matter much but the holes with length really suffer for it. Saw a flyer where they're having a tourney to fund some new tees though I think.

A few holes are very easy. Hole 1 obviously is like 130'. Some of the holes had cheater routes where you could forego the fairway. Hole 2 I think is a little dogleg left but the rough is thin enough you can just rifle a FH right at the basket. On another hole you can throw an elevator stall shot over the dogleg.

Landing a disc amongst all those rocks on hole 18 kind of sucked. I have cat-like agility but the less athletic could suffer a fall or twisted ankle so use caution.

I'm not sure if there was a bathroom or not. The main lodge building looked closed and there were trashcans blocking the doors to the bathrooms on the backside of it.

Other Thoughts:

Overall it's a solid course and a welcome addition to the area. It's a really fun course that all skills can probably enjoy. I had a trio of me, a Blue level player, my bro (Red) and a lady beginner and we all had fun.

The lake is nice to see and finishing the course in view of it was pretty cool. You have to cross the lake to get to the course via a bridge and dam which is a long but scenic walk but there appears to be another parking lot from another street (City Lake Dr.?) that's right between hole 17 and 18 which is what I'd use if I were a local or pressed for time.

There's a really fat duck that hangs out around the dam begging for food.
