Convenient Course if you're in the area 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 9, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course is located just outside the town of Logan OH in the Hocking Hills and convenient enough to find, baskets visible from OH 33A. Lots of other outdoor activities in the area, canoeing on the Hocking River, hiking in nearby hills, gorges, caves and zip lining seems to be popular.

Navigation was easy , tee signs for the next hole were in sight of proceeding basket, the exception would be from basket 6 to tee 7, #7 sign still visible across the secondary road.

No one was there the Saturday morning I played, so I could throw multiple shots on each basket and safaried a few holes so I could use my drivers.

The cement pads were smallish but well done.

A good place to work on the approach game, a pitch and putt course in all its glory. A good course for novices and players who just want to bag a quick course.

Decent use of the available land and scorecards available. Signature hole if any, would be #6 due to the play over a slight drainage area and the bit of vegetation obscuring the basket and seemed to be one of the longer holes on the course.

Cons:

Not much variety due to the course being on flat property. Most if not all holes play straight ahead.

The placement of the tee signs irked me a bit, they were located sort of close ,off the back corners.

Hole #3 was located next to the main road, could be a problem if a rhfh or lhbh novice decided to toss a driver into the wind. A little caution needed on hole #6 as well since it is located next to a secondary road.

Other Thoughts:

The campus was a bit interesting, the lone building had a sod roof, there were solar panels, and a wind mill as well.

If you're heading to the course from the town of Logan on a weekend day, be cautious of the vacationers visiting the canoe livery or public landing along the Hocking River. There must have been a 100 cars parked along the side of the road with 100s of people about carrying coolers, packs, and inner tubes.

Not a destination course by any stretch, but, a convenient course to play if you're in the area and want to bump up your number of courses played.
