Pros:

The park is beautiful to look around and play in. While the course is integrated into a public park, most holes play away from paths and there is not a lot of trouble to be had with other park visitors. There are some very interesting holes like #1, the basket is located within a wooden deck so your disc can slide on the deck into the basket. People in the park are interested in disc golf and friendly towards players. The grass is mowed by sheep and goats which rotate through the park. Teepads are also close to one another and it is rather easy to find your way around the course.

Cons:

The course is short. There are currently 14 installed holes, 2 of which can not be played during summer as part of the park is closed off due to bees and flowers and general preservation of nature.

Other Thoughts:

The best course in the are, including Berlin. If you take a vacation to Berlin, playing the course in Potsdam is preferable to the ones in Berlin. As a tourist you should also visit Potsdam as it features a lot of castles, lakes and old architecture.

Best in Berlin 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 17, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Hyzernauts is a beautiful park with access by excellent public transportation as explained by other reviewers.

The tees are good and the tee signs have distance, sign, and hole number. The baskets are acceptable.

There is an active local group. I met a couple of nice guys, Michael and Phillip, who told me straight away that I needed to take a picture of the new course map on a sign near the park entrance. The 2007 version no longer matches what's there so I updated the 2017 version. The new course design inserts a new 3 and 4 in the first field taking advantage of some good clusters of guardian trees. The next field has a new 9. When you work your way to the final group of holes the old design has 4 baskets but now only 2. So the newer layout has 15 baskets compared to the 14 on the 2007 version.

The first hole is unique and unusual with the basket cut into a wooden deck. I uploaded a picture so you can see it.

Cons:

Even though there's some pedestrian park traffic the course is laid out well enough that disc golfers can play without much conflict with them.

Other Thoughts:

There is some beehives off the side of the 12th fairway. I found this cool and you would unlikely find managed hives in an active public park in America. Strangely enough I also saw hives by the course I visited in Italy. I suppose the main relevance here is that you don't want your discs going that way since the bees might not be happy about you hitting their home and then you'd probably not be able to retrieve your plastic.

Fun Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 28, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very easy to reach from Berlin. The directions on the website were spot on. The course is fun to play and some holes are pretty challenging.
The course has a good layout and is pretty easy to find the next hole. It was a nice sunny day and the course was in great condition. The pads and baskets are good quality

Cons:

When the wind picks up, some of the more open holes are less forgiving. It can cause slow play for the less experienced.

Other Thoughts:

I had a great time playing this course. It was a holiday and there were several families playing that day. It was good to see the people out enjoying a great sport on a beautiful day.

Next time I find myself in Berlin, I will definitely play here again..

Fun day, a bit windy 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 8, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

I gave this fun little course 4 stars because it's a great clean park and the course is so well marked and very fun. If you are in berlin and have half a day open it is a very easy train ride on the s7 track and then one easy transfer onto a 96 tram that drops you off a 2 minute walk to the first tee. The GPS coordinates and directions posted on the dgcr page were very helpful.

Unique hole layouts, beautiful park, easy public transportation (tram drop off at park), friendly locals, comforting amount of other players playing, other things to do around the park if you have kids/family.

Cons:

Foot traffic from park goers but nothing to be too concerned about, most holes don't have deadly bistandard lines or fairways. 14 holes could be see. As a negative i guess but play another 14 if you need to, its what we did and hole one will make you want to.

Hyzer-HO 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 9, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

HYZER - HO!!!!

People - I played with a group of 4 guys for about 3 holes(would of played the whole round but I had to meet my girlfriend and sister back at the hotel and a group of 5 moves slow). They offered me a beer, and everyone seemed to be fun. Finding the first hole I had a few guys explain to me how to get there and a little on the navigation.

Teesigns - on every hole. Tells you where the next basket which can be kind of hard to find as the navigation isn't bad, just a little different.

Pads on every hole(people who said holes were missing them they were either on a path made of cement or stone slabs)

Fun Factor - Just looking at the first holes picture you can tell this place is fun. It has a huge fun factor.

Cons:

14 holes - But honestly they could add four more holes but it may take away from the course. As no hole seems to be there just to take up space.

Not to much elevation and not to anything to long(I don't care about hole length that much but the longest hole I think was 127 Meters and the beauty of the course makes up for the elevation.)

Other Thoughts:

When taking the Tram 96 to the course you can get off at Volks Park and rent discs and to pay the 1 euro. You will then get to walk around the park a bit on the way. If you are coming with Family or Friends that don't play this park has a Dinosaur exhibit (may change depending on the season), Skate Park, Mini Golf, and a bunch of Kids playgrounds(none of which are in the way of the course)

You can also get off Viereckremis and it will lead you to the park where you won't have to pay(However as being in a foreign country I would recommend it, as the course is nice and 1 euro is like 1.23 American)

I have played 3 courses in EU (as of the time I wrote this) and this is the only one I have seen people playing disc golf at and also happens to be my favorite. If you are in Berlin I would really recommend coming here to play this course and from what it seems Potsdam has a lot of cool older buildings.

A nice quick round outside of Berlin 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 3, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

A nice park in Potsdam with plenty of foliage and trees to contend with. Accessible without private transportation, but not the easiest, it will take around an hour from Berlin to get to the course. That being said this is the nearest permanent course to Berlin.

The DISCatcher baskets are in good condition and easy to spot from most tees. The tees are brick, level and were clear of snow, despite the presence of snow in the park... in April! (???) Tee signs showed hole map, distance in meters and par info. Tee signs were low to the ground, but easy to spot when trying to navigate the course and find tees. Map is available here at dgcoursereview.com and on the hyzernaut website. I think there's one in the park but didn't notice it. Either way, it's good to have a print-out or smartphone pic to help navigate the course.

The place appears to be kept up very well. Many fairways were clear of snow as well as the tees. The holes were well designed, using a lot of natural obstacles, testing a wide variety of shots, angles, curves and distances. A lot of shots were pretty technical and OB's and mando's can increase challenge. The signature hole that has a boardwalk built around the basket is pretty cool and poses a unique challenge. The park is pretty clean and trash cans can be found throughout.

Cons:

Some tees were missing tee signs. The layout is a little wonky, some basket to tee walks are a little bizarre. The course is only 14 holes and most shots are on the short side. One or two longer holes would have been nice. While the map indicates two tees for each hole, only one appeared to be marked. No restrooms that I could see and thus no running water either. Parking also seemed to be scarce, but I could be wrong. The course is pay-to-play. It appeared to be an honor system entrance fee, but I wouldn't take risks, especially if Germany is a foreign country for you. It's just 1 Euro (.50c in winter) so the cost is negligible, but the course isn't exactly a hall-of-fame course. However, paid use seems to keep things in good condition so from what I can tell, you do get some real benefits for paying.

Other Thoughts:

A nice place to seek out if you're in the Berlin area. Certainly not an amazing course but solid and in Europe, sometimes you have to take the best you can get. It's a nice permanent home course for Berliners and worth seeking out for tourists.

Fun and challenging 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 16, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Brick tee pads for every hole. Everything well maintained

- Navigation is easy. There is a map of course at park entrance, and the next hole is usually in the direction you would guess (perhaps going from #11 to #12 is a little confusing)

- Great mix of holes. Long holes, short holes, holes demanding all your different throws - hyzers, anhyzers.. I even threw a couple rollers in there. Hole #1 is unique, to be sure.

- Basically, every hole felt like a specifically disc golf hole, designed just for that... you never got the impression that people just slapped some baskets around and called it a course.

- It is a beautiful park in its own right

Cons:

- costs to play (not really a big deal)

- not a full 18 (again not a big deal - looks like they definitely have enough land to expand and I would imagine they probably will at some point.

- no real change in elevation (they did the best with the flat land they have though, and that's all you can ask).

Other Thoughts:

Nice setting for disc golf - the town of Potsdam is very nice, felt like you were on the edge between city and country.

It was very easy to get to by following the instructions on the profile page for the course.

Definitely the best course of the 3 in the Berlin region.

Holes 1, 4, and 10 were excellent - very fun and creative.

Nise little course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 9, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy to get to disc course, great park and a realy funny hole nr. 1!
The holes are a good mix of woody and open holes, signs on every hole and quit good tee´s.

Cons:

I lost a disc on hole 1, it went under the wooden platform and was imposible to get to, so the only cons: I have is that the openings to under the platform are not closed.

Other Thoughts:

That hole nr. 1 is something else, but quit funny.
I´ll be back next year same time!!
