Pros:
Excellent course for a beginner, mostly
Always mowed and in good shape
New tees
Four holes have a longer basket, which are very difficult
They changed the 550-yard par 3 over water to a par 4. Seems reasonable!
Very easy to navigate since it is mostly in an open field with a few trees so the next tee is usually visible. #5 to #6 can be slightly confusing but it's there.
The water hazards, when they do come into play, are intimidating
The back basket on #18 turns a dull par 3 into a great par 4. Your last shot becomes similar to your first shot, diagonal over the water. It's a great way to start/finish.
The new signs are fun.
The 11th Hole can be played as a more exciting 700-foot par 5 if you walk back to the circular cement pad.
Cons:
After a great first hole which plays diagonally across a creek, the next 3 holes are pretty much exactly the same. And there are about 6 more holes just like them coming up.
There are 9 really good holes here and 9 that are just sort of there.
Holes 6-17 are practically on top of each other, with walking paths. It can be a parade of people walking in front of you, especially during a tournament.
The creek is tough. You're going to need a disc grabber if you play here much. If you throw a disc in you can wade into the creek and get it at times, but it's very muddy. Just stay out of the creek
There are no bridges so you do have to walk out into the public street sometimes to get across the creek.
Other Thoughts:
It can be a little tough to find the first tee, it's not the one you can see near the entrance. You have to drive in a little bit and it's right next to the creek. The course has kind of odd mix of very easy, even borderline boring holes, combined with some very challenging and strategic holes that can really hammer you. Having to throw over the creek on your first shot is a bit scary. it's not a crazy hard course though, even an average player can shoot par if they aren't missing putts. most of the par 3s are around 300 feet so reachable with some practice. Changing the long par 3 along the road to a par 4 was a good idea...not many people can reach a 550-foot hole with an island green I like this place, but it's really a must to have a disc retriever.. It's easy to go into the creeks and difficult to get back out.
The course is always well maintained, but it's also very busy, and not just with disc golfers. There is a walking trail right through the middle of it, and there's soccer and fishing going on almost all the time. in the winter it's not so busy though and is very pleasant, but it can be chaos in the summer, which is why the local league rarely goes there, and they don't have a lot of tournaments.
As for the difficulty, even par playing to all the short baskets (the yellows) is usually rated around 870. Plus 5 is about an 800 rating.
There are 4 holes with long baskets (red) and they are substantially more difficult. On #1, the red basket is 60 feet farther, with more water hazards. #5 turns an already tough 220 shot to a very narrow peninsula into a 300-foot dogleg to the same peninsula. Still par 3. #17's red basket is just cruel, another 80 feet farther up the hill, still par 3. Only #18's red basket adds one to the par, since it's now 570-feet with a second shot diagonal over a creek. Problem is, it's rarely playable due to traffic. Even in a tournament it's tough to use because of all the backtracking you have to do.
Still when they do use all of the longs, even par is rated around 900.
