Pros:
The signs are really accurate. With the spinner for the A, B C positions displayed well. (there was one in the 'D' position that was not listed on the sign.) All Tee's have rubber pads that are in great shape. The hole shaping makes you try a lot of uncomfortable shots. The wind helps this. This is not an easy place to play to my taste but was a lot of fun. Every third or fourth hole has trash cans. The course was very clean other than the 3 bottles I packed out. All Tees have bag hangers and cut chunks of log to sit on.
Cons:
The back 9 has poison oak in the trees/bushes that seemed to be utterly missing from the front 9. There is no water I saw available on site.
Other Thoughts:
This place was fun to play. It was about 95 degrees and had a good breeze. There is a fee to park, totally worth it. (not sure what the fee was as we missed the pay robot on the way in, and it was the 4th of july. We got lucky) There is no elevation change but the orchard makes it fun. The back 9 have a lot of shots that require spotters, that is to say that the holes are blind and even the landing zones are blind. Makes for a unique challenge. The trees are pretty short and don't provide much shade. My impression is that the grass could get pretty gnarly early in the year, but was all beat down and had hard packed dirt. Some of the holes have a possibility for cross shots from other holes, especially on the front 9. Not that it's bad, but something to look out for. When we played, there was almost no traffic, but I can picture this place getting busy. As some care about this. I'll mention that there is no proper 'bowl hole'. Whatever. Still this was a fun place to play. Makes a perfect bookend to Hellyer and La Raza. I like this place and will come back. I could Also mention, NOT for beginners! Go to Chabot Park in San Leandro for that!
