Pros:
• Holes are challenging, yet doable.
• Great use of terrain-- hole lengths coincide well with uphill/downhill holes.
• Great use of trees creating great flight paths to hit
• Unbelievable views of Lake Dillon and the surrounding mountains.
Cons:
• A little hard to navigate hole-to-hole, but this is being worked out with more signage, etc.
• Tee pads were a bit short to me
Other Thoughts:
Being a thin-blooded Easterner, it took about 6 holes to stop sucking wind, but even for the locals, this course is a pretty good workout. The terrain is pretty extreme, but you get a good warmup from the 10 minute hike up the mountain to the first tee box. The course is still very new, so signage is pretty sparse...hole numbers and lengths are on red circular tags at each tee. Some of the tags specify par, but not all of them do. On the hole info here, it says hole 8 is a par 4 at 533 ft. That sounds pretty reasonable, but you lose I'd say at least 100 ft. of elevation if not more from tee to basket, making it very reachable as a par 3. I cranked my Fever out into the sky and came up one about 35 ft. short of the pin...and I by no means can throw 500 ft. Hole 16 is 420 ft. generally uphill bending right the whole way and marked here as a par 3. It would take a monster forehand over tall pines uphill to get to the pin, so in my opinion this would be the par 4 instead of 8.
Anyway, unbelievably breathtaking (literally) course. If you're passing through it's a must pay for sure.
