Pros:
Lake Shore Park is a nice, mostly open park on the shore of Lake Erie, with beautiful views of the water on most every hole, although it never comes into play. It's pretty cool to have such a prominent lake nearby.
For the most part, the course plays mostly open, but a few trees per hole to force lines, as well as a couple low ceilings to make tee shots interesting.
One of the biggest things on this course is the wind, and the day I played it, the wind was ripping through the course. Putts outside five feet were not guaranteed, and you will have to change your game play to become accustomed to the wind.
Many of the pins were placed on hill sides, making roll aways inevitable, and elevation on this course was surprising with It being right on the water.
Three concrete tee pads per hole, and some holes had multiple baskets per hole, providing a mix of challenges for local players.
There are not a lot of courses in the area, so having this course in the area is a huge plus for locals, that way they don't have to travel. A course nearing 20 years old, it has a rich history.
Cons:
This course doesn't have a wow factor that makes it stand out from other courses, pertaining to design. No signature holes that stand out to me for any certain reasons.
The tee pads were a tad small, sometimes slanted in the way of the elevation, meaning that the ground was not leveled before installation, and I felt that a lot of the tees were not very well placed, kind of just thrown in to make three tee pads.
The baskets were Mach III's, very old, most likely from '99, and did not catch every putt that should have fell. As a card, through two rounds, there were probably 5-8 putts that fell out that should have went in, some costing multiple strokes.
Holes sometimes played near walking paths or other park activities, so watch out for pedestrians, or cars, or anyother things that could possibly get in the way.
Other Thoughts:
This course doesn't have a bad design, and there are lots of fun holes, but it is not really my cup of tea. I looked at this course for what it is, and there are definitely people that will love it here, but it did not fit my playing style. It could be due to my poor play, but the course was not my favorite. I hope everyone who does come her enjoys the course, and the club that puts their love into the course does a great job.
