Stunning course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 30, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Layout - Hole are spread well across the available area so no chance of getting in the way of people playing a different hole

Baskets - DiscCatchers are all in great condition

Tee markers - Every tee has a stump with a hole map on it. Really clear and easy to follow.

Great use of the geography - the course sits on a flat area of grassy flood plain, however the holes have been designed to offer a challenge despite the lack of undulation. So holes also incorporate old windswept trees and bushes to give the area atmosphere.

Cons:

Navigation - it is not always obvious where the next few is, especially between holes 5&6. I had to have a good hunt and actually found the basket before I found the tee.

Footpaths - on some holes (3, 5 & 8), footpaths cross the holes. However this is not shown on the tee marker maps. On a cold winter's day I had no issues but in summer it could be a problem.

Par/distance - Hole 8 is the only par 4 on the course, however there are 2 holes longer than it on the course which are par 3! For the shorter thrower like myself I find this quite an unfair challenge.

Other Thoughts:

Hole Descriptions:

Hole 1 - Right hand dogleg to start. Thick bushes down the right hand side and a large ditch behind the basket. Certainly not an easy hole to start with.

Hole 2 - Straight hole with a low ceiling tee shot. A small brook runs 10ft behind the basket so try not to over throw.

Hole 3 - Long par 3, straight, lovely windswept tree on the left hand side.

Hole 4 - First of the really short holes. Potential ace chance here, although basket guarded by thorny bushes.

Hole 5 - This hole slowly drifts to the right with 2 - 3 thorny bushes down the centre of the fairway. Caution required as a footpath crosses the hole halfway down and another is directly behind the basket.

From here to navigate to the next hole stand with hole 5 basket and tee behind you, to your left is a faint path into the bushes. Follow this, after 200ft you will reach the next tee.

Hole 6 - An unusual challenge here. Quite a short hole but, running the length of the left hand side is a canal. The basket is tucked behind a large tree. I really enjoyed this hole.

Hole 7 - Another really short hole. Basket is extremely well guarded so hyser is the only real way of attacking hole.

Hole 8 - Very long par 4. Open fairway thins to the basket. Ridge and furrow ground can make your disc hard to find. Directly behind basket is a large stump.

Hole 9 - Woodland hole, cut through the trees. A nice change to finish with. Superb old tree frames the basket too

Meh 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 21, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

It's disc golf in London. A couple decent holes: 1 is a 350' anny guarded by trees, 8 is a long, tight slight hyzer with a very protected basket.

Cons:

A couple holes that are just too short...38m and 54m. Some of the holes are just too tight, tough to make a disc "S" in such a short distance. Basket missing on hole 2.

Other Thoughts:

I left a driver, mid, and putter with Michigan area tourney stamps on the course. Hope whoever found them gets good use out of them...and I found a Lee Valley stamped disc, so that was cool. I purposely waited until I was in the UK to play my 100th course. This was it...unfortunately I was a little underwhelmed.

Pros:

A great course to go play super quite and peaceful. Easy to navigate with course map and tee sings at every tee / box. The center will even loan you discs if you want to go play with out any discs or if you want to learn!

Cons:

grass can get out of hand at times if not cut often... thorn bushes at sides of course (normal for the u.k.) some holes are a little short but fun at the same time. off the beaten path.

Other Thoughts:

Great place to go play and seems like a great place to learn how to play without a bunch of people having to wait on you! I will be going back 100% :) cheers
