Pros:
Liberty Park is a decent sized park off I-5 just east of Spokane. It has enough space to accommodate a nice 18 hole rec course. The park has a basketball court, ball fields, and a picnic area.
Currently, some folks have designed their own 18 hole course using buckets as targets. The buckets have large hole numbers on them and are mounted on wooden stands. They're not baskets but will suffice until the Spokane park's department bucks up. The group or individual has made a gallant effort to provide some navigational help. Some of the stands had a next arrow, which helped. But most didn't. They also spray painted next arrows and tee pads and numbers in the grass. Some are very clear while others are almost non-existent. The grass is deep in places and could be mowed. I would like to see some small hole numbers painted on the sidewalk.
The park is actually a pretty nice place for a course. It has some elevation to work with and enough trees to keep things interesting. Because there is no map anywhere, navigation is currently dicey.
Easily, my favorite hole was # 17. It's probably 400' down a sloping hill. Just a great hole it show off your big arm.
Cons:
Obviously, the biggest con is the lack of baskets. Navigation issues are another major problem. Next, we have no tee pads. And no signs. And I actually kind of like this course. There is potential here. Unfortunately, there is barely a course here at the present.
I can't in any universe give this course any kind of average rating. I will try and watch it's progress and adjust my rating if the park's department ever takes any action.
Other Thoughts:
I appreciate the time and effort that these individuals have put into Liberty Park DGC. Keep up the fight boys. Maybe you can get something done here!
