Pros:

Lowell Park DGC is solid 9 hole layout just north of downtown Dixon. It's a nice compliment to the short 18 hole layout at Page Park. It actually is longer than Page Park as well, by around 600' at that. The course plays around a disc golf only area for the most part. There's some excellent views of the river to be had here to go along with the mixed style of holes present. Tighter wooded ones with more open holes. Well balanced design for the course.

The baskets are red Dynamic Veterans. Nice baskets with good visibility. The chains are a little light for fast putts but I had no issues with these. I love the red powdercoated Veterans on looks alone. Easy to spot these from quite a ways away. One basket and pin placement per hole.

There's now concrete tee pads here. The pictures on here show wood pavers but that's not the case anymore. The tees are all of ample size, poured nicely and have good tread to them. No issues with these whatsoever. One tee pad per hole.

The course uses the available space nicely to create a fun layout. The river can come into play on a couple holes, though it would take a pretty errant shot to find it. Hole 2's basket is perched near the bank of it, while it is in play for the entirety of hole 3 along the right side. The wind can create havoc if it's up on these two holes.

The rest of the course involves trees quite a bit. Tastefully though. Lines are available. They just need to be hit. Hole 8 is the most technical line here. A flex FH is the best option but even that is tight. The backhand options for this one are next to nonexistant. A putter layout to the mouth of the main gap is the smart play for par. There's creative ways to take a 5 too, which I found out the hard way.

The tee signs are basic. The same variety thats all to common around here. No hole map but the rest of the basic info is there. Hole #, par and distance. The same concept they use at Page Park. Nothing special but absolutely better than nothing.

I'm not sure of the yearround status of this course. It's listed as permanent on here but seasonal on Udisc. Playable in the warmer months for sure. Winter is an unknown based off this. My best guess is that the park gates are closed in the winter. I could be completely wrong too.

Cons:

A few of the holes had tight lines. Nothing too crazy, but very specific. Hole 8 as mentioned above is a flex FH line and not much else besides crashing the right side tree line and hoping to get lucky through everything.

The flow is a bit wonky towards the beginning with numerous tees visible from the previous hole. Having a map will speed things up a bit and save some extra walking. The design makes sense once you play it once. A bit odd for first timers though.

There's a few lengthier walks to the next tee. Nothing outlandish, and I say this because these are to optimize the holes here. Again, a map makes this a moot point. Worth noting though.

Other Thoughts:

Another good one in Dixon. It's kind of funny that the 9 holer is actually longer than the 18 nearby but they fit together nicely. I'd play both of them on the regular if I lived near here. That being said i'd recommend giving this one a spin if you're in the area. Fun course. Nice tees, nice baskets and nice signs. Pretty park with a nice view of the river are just a bonus.
