Something Different in NS 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 15, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Teepad signs for both red and blue tees
- 18 holes if you play from red and blue tees
- Innova Discatcher Pro Baskets
- Course map showing the overall layout of the course
- Field style course - different from most courses in the region
- Good mix of longer and shorter holes
- Beautiful, well maintained, public park

Cons:

- No navigational signs to get from previous basket to next tee
- Marked hole distances are longer than indicated on the signs
- Only 9 baskets, but a functional 18
- Blue tees cross over previous holes baskets in some cases
- Some tee pads are quite uneven (5 as an example)

Other Thoughts:

I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's a field course which is completely different than most courses in the region. This course also uses elevation better than any course in the maritime provinces other than Hillcrest Farms on PEI. If you're going to play 18 holes then I would suggest playing an alternating red/blue tee format so that your not playing a short course on the front and a long course on the back. It gives a good mix of long and short that way. I played in the winter with some snow on the ground. I'm excited to see what this course plays like in the summer months. I've been told it can get quite windy here which will add to the challenge. It's an hour from my home course (Hammonds Plains), but it's a good enough course that I'll be making the drive more than a couple times this summer.

New Baskets Added 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 14, 2016 Played the course:once

Other Thoughts:

New baskets have just gone in the ground here. There are now 9 baskets total. I haven't played this course yet, but I hear it is a good average course. Ignore the old review as that was for when there was only three baskets. I'll update this review once I've actually played the course. The course will probably be around 2 to 3 stars out of 5.

Been redesigned, review no longer relevant 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 27, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Real DiscCatcher Targets
- Nice Park

Cons:

- Holes seemed to be designed by someone who had never played or seen "true" disc golf. Although suspicious of this fact before playing (given the Par 6's and Par 7) I was truly surprised at how poorly the course was laid out.
- The pond is super merky so any discs going in, even on the edge are lost forever.
- Only 3 Targets
- Out of bounds house tight to one side of the park marked with an uncountable number of "Private Property" signs will steal any discs you didn't throw into the pond.

Other Thoughts:

Although admittedly new to the sport, I've played in New Minas and watched hours and hours of pro disc golf on youtube. This course might be good for families playing with normal frisbees but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone too serious about the sport. I do not intend to go back. They could have designed it a bit better even on the restriction of the 3 targets with more strategically placed (and preferably marked) tee pads.
