Marion DGC is a unique niner due to it's location. This is generally a flatter part of the state. Think Iowa, rolling corn field type area. This is that area except a little bit of elevation pops up. It's used superbly too. The course plays very tight and technical throughout. I personally love the design and how the course plays.

The baskets are Innova Discatchers. Older models, but all are still in solid shape and catch great. I say it all the time but those yellow bands just pop out unlike anything else on the market. Great baskets here. One placement and basket per hole.

The tee pads are concrete. These are skinny little guys but definitely better than natural pads. Not long and very narrow but poured as level as can be expected. Good grip on these too. One tee pad per hole. More than serviceable.

The course design is very well done. Impressive really, due to the space available. The whole course plays wooded style. Even the signature downhill bomb for hole 8, which has the pin tucked into a grouping of trees. Lots of hallway fairway's where placement is more important than distance. That's really the name of the game here.

The tee signs are basic. Generic hole map, hole #, par and distance. These are located on the back end of the tee or off to the side on the back side. Never interfering with your swing or run up. They're showing their age but are still going strong more than a decade after first playing here.

Permanent, free to play and will never be busy.

The tee pads are the main thing people are going to dislike here. I have no problems with them for my abbreviated run up. They are very thin though. 3' wide max. These do seem a little odd in the age of parking lot sized pads, and they are a bit narrow. The length is fine. Just really skinny.

The lines are starting to grow inwards a bit more than when it was newer. Hole 2 is a prime example. Stupid skinny gap a ways off the tee with little to no room for error. The first half of the course has a few places like this. It was probably a non issue ten years ago. It's an issue now.

A couple transitions are a bit goofy. The walk from hole 2 to 3 is the main one. The tee for hole 3 is tucked back behind hole 2's basket. I feel like most will end up walking to hole 4's tee, like I did, and not realize it until too late.

There's a couple longer walks between holes. To get to hole 1 and from hole 9 back to th parking lot are two of these.

No bomber holes, It plays pretty short for the most part. Even Hole 8 takes a controlled shot to execute a birdie.

Excellent nine hole course. This one stood out enough in my mind from ten or so years ago that I should play it again. Very glad I did. This is just a well laid out niner in a nice park. Love this course. Hole 8 is an epic downhill hole that I still remember 800 plus courses played later. The rest of the course is actually better if you're interested in shaping lines. I am.

Not a must play, but the best option of the options around here. Well worth a visit if nearby, plus it's not terribly far off of Hwy 29. I've played a lot of courses, this one twice now, and I'd gladly play it again. Fun, fun course.

Nice 9 hole course in the woods, not long but it will challenge your accuracy (which apparently isn't for everyone). Easy to navigate and not terribly rough. Hole 8 is a signature hole throwing down a sled hill.

Not a lot of distance and the tee pads are small.

This course makes a nice loop when you play Waupaca, New London and Dream Big, definetly worth stopping at to play at least once.

One of the few organized courses in the area. Utilizes a sledding hill so a few holes have elevation.

The course is very overgrown. It's almost as if no brush was ever cleared and baskets were just put along a trail. The course is very short so at least there are no bombs through the brush. Tee pads are concrete but are smallest tee pads the reviewer has ever played on. They are too small for any type of x-step approach and require stepping up onto them which make backhand drives a chore.

The baskets are nice for putting practice if you lived in Marion but otherwise the course isn't worth a round.

It's a nice local course that has some potential. Hole 8 from the top of the sledding hill is the best hole on the course.

The course mainly follows a trail around the perimeter of the park. As a result there is not a lot of room for error. Not a good course for beginners.

The layout could be made better by clearing more of the undergrowth so it's more of a fairway and to give a few more options on throws.
