(1.507 Rating) A beginner friendly layout with a mix of open to heavily wooded holes.
- RAW BEAUTY - The property here is pretty awesome. There is a small creek, a pond, valleys and plenty of elevation change. The layout unfortunately only uses these fantastic features on 3 or 4 holes, but regardless, the scenic elements are always present in the backdrop when walking the layout.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - The hole distances and par figures are set up for newer players. a couple throws are heavily wooded, but they are both sub 150 feet. Disc loss potential is low, but possible. Birdies and even aces are possible for Novice level players.
- NAVIGATION - Despite no course map and just simple tee signs, a fairly easy course to navigate. Next tees are generally within trip over distance from the prior basket. The only hick-up I had was on tee (5), where I fired at basket (9). The basket on hole (5) is blind up a path and over a bluff.
- QUICK PLAY - Figure 30 minutes for a solo to get nine holes in.
- MAINTENANCE - The course was free of large tree debris and trash on my visit.

Would need lots of edits to be revered by the masses.
- MISSED OPPORTUNITIES - I totally understand wanting to keep this camp course simple while working under a tight budget. But man, the land here could have really delivered a thrilling layout. Almost the entire course was laid out in previously developed areas such as access paths and multi use fields. A nice looking pond on the property was skipped over. Two of the three heavily wooded holes are played down pathways. The use of elevation seems like an afterthought with the steeper slopes and valleys avoided.
- BASKET AND TEE SEPARATION - It's going to be hard to have several groups on this course at the same time. Tees are located within the circle of the prior basket several times.
- NO LOOP - There's an 850 foot walk between basket (9) and tee (1).
- UNIQUENESS - Since the property's best features are avoided, the hole variety is more run-of-the-mill than one would expect walking in. Six holes are around 200 feet long or less. The max elevation change is on hole (5) and it plays up about 30 feet in elevation. This is the only honest rec par 4 despite four holes being listed par 4s. Hole (6) to me, is the most interesting shot being heavily wooded and throwing over a slight valley. Hole (9) is also interesting, being a wooded tunnel downshot. However, it is dissatisfyingly short at 122 feet.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - Ignoring the generous par figures on the a couple holes, I'd say the distances and obstacles are Novice level. Every player rated above an 850 should average less than 27.
- CHARACTER - The equipment is basic and the extras are nonexistent. Natural tees except for tee (1) which is a wood deck. The baskets are not top tier. The signage is too simplistic.

The Maywood Camp course will no doubt serve its purpose to introduce disc golf to new players. It's format should be solid entertainment for Beginners through Novice level. Higher skilled players will be underwhelmed and I would suggest Aggieland instead, if from outside the area.
- ACCESS - I made a last second detour to play here before going over to throw nearby Aggieland. I went and knocked on the property's main office door and got no answer. In fact, I don't think anyone was here at all when I showed up. I went ahead and posted an email address on the info page for this course. Please contact them before making the trek here.
