Not to bad 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 10, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice 9 holer in a city park.
15 foot drop offs and trees make this course not so easy.
Nice
good baskets
Good layout

Cons:

No concrete pads...but still ok.

Other Thoughts:

Did you know there is ANOTHER course in town?

Go west, almost out of town and look south. You will see the baskets off the main east/west highway.

Bingo!

Solid 9 holer with a few challenges 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 12, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a good park style course that is good for beginners to learn on. Also this is a good course for a more advanced player to work on their midrange game. It has adequate foot bridges so back tracking to cross the drainage ditch isn't an issue. Has a little bit of elevation changes and does offer a slight water threat.
Flow is very logical and there are other amenities in this park. Playgrounds and a very nice swimming pool to name a few.
Here is a hole by hole run down:
1-Dog legs left and plays slightly downhill
2-Straight ahead wide open shot with a tennis court just behind the basket.
3-Slightly downhill shot, shooting over the drainage ditch.
4-Downhill shot with and elevated tee box. Plays over the drainage ditch. Has a playground on the right hand side of the fairway so be aware.
5-Has trees off the box with a lower ceiling and the drainage ditch coming into play as well. This is the best hole on the course in my opinion.
6-Basket is protected by a tree.
7-Throws across the drainage ditch with a protected basket.
8-Has a big tree off the box to throw around and a pavilion on the left hand side of the fairway.
9-Throws uphill and has a gap to hit to reach the basket.

Cons:

Dirt tees are a bit compacted and might become slick after a hard rain. Wind will most likely factor in on most holes here because of the openness of the course.
#3's basket is only 10-15ft away from #4's tee, for me its just not a good thing. I don't see this course being crowded but safety while putting and teeing off needs to be factored in when designing a course. This also happens again on #7's basket and #8's tee, so please be careful.
There are a couple of roads that come into play on some holes so watch out for passing cars before you throw.

Other Thoughts:

This isn't a disc golf exclusive course and could be busy upon your visit. Watch out for kids on the playground equipment and passing cars before you throw. Overall a pretty solid 9 hole course in a nicely kept park. You could play multiple rounds here in a reasonable amount of time. If you are passing thru the area then stop by and play this course. Maybe you have someone that you would like to introduce to the game, then this is a good place to take them to learn the game.

2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 15, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Aside from its location, the course has a pretty good design with good obstacles. Its use of the creek is awesome, testing your throws by making you toss your disc over it twice. And even the throws that land in the creek make for a fun challenge. In my experience with 9-hole courses, this one seems to offer farther tee-off to basket distances that make for interesting challenges alongside the obstacles.

Cons:

For the most part, the course is located in the central parts of the park with only a few slightly secluded holes. When playing, I usually skip certain holes or have to wait a few minutes to avoid the risk of hitting others in the park. It may not be the ideal course for a first time player with the potential anxiety when the park is busy, and could leave a bad taste for the sport in their mouth.

Not bad at all 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 24, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

-nice, well maintained park

-Good variety of holes

-mostly short and some 350'ish holes

-good baskets

-left and right curves

-good use of OB with a nice stone lined creek coming into play on a few holes.

Cons:

-pedestrian dangers! this course is a little too close to some areas where children play and there seems to be a good amount of foot traffic around the course. could be dangerous. be careful when you throw. You don't want someone's introduction to disc golf to be a whack in the head.

-tees too close to baskets. another danger is having people teeing off while discs are flying in. To play it safe, you will have to wait for the group in front of you to move on before you tee off or risk hitting someone. Not a safe design.

-no concrete tees

-missing several signs.

-could use benches

Other Thoughts:

Overall, this course was pretty fun. The holes are slightly challenging. The locals were friendly and the park is nice. Watch for kids and be careful when you throw!

Excellent find 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 8, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Beautiful well-kept park, with great use of trees, water and distances. Great signage and excellent baskets.

Cons:

Dirt tees allow for a little fudging on tee shots - could use a line or cement tees.

Other Thoughts:

What a great find! I was playing courses in the area while in Choctaw, and decided to drive to Cushing - glad I did!

Memorial Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 5, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice little 9-hole course that I think maximizes the available real estate. Easy enough for beginners, but interesting enough for veteran players.

Cons:

The tee boxes are very close to the baskets. The driver must be aware of other disc golfers because in many spots it doesn't take a very errant throw to land in another fairway or tee box. If the park ever gets busy, could get dangerous.

Other Thoughts:

Wouldn't call it a destination course, but it was a nice little surprise when I was in Cushing for work. If you find yourself in or near Cushing, it'd be worth checking out.

Pleasantly Suprised. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 14, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great well kept park, interesting mix of shots water is in play 6 of the 9 holes(drainage ditch). very fun play if you live in the area and dont want to drive to stillwater. cant wait to go back in the summer. Small concrete teepads would do this course wonders. Great signage with arrows pointing the way. Next time I go to stillwater ill definently stop off for a quick 30 minute round. Parking is just south of the huge water slides with arrows pointing the way to disc golf course.

Cons:

Does play through and around playgrounds and picnic areas, could be a problem in the summertime if it gets a lot of traffic. Lots of cars in and out of there when i played so safe to say itll be busy in the summer with a waterpark nearby and baseball fields. Threw my disc in the drainage ditch, kind of a pain to get out without a device, but it was low water so i could jump down dont really know if this ever fills up after a rain if it does theres not much hope getting it back.

Other Thoughts:

Gravel tees would also be good.

Newer course in Cushing, OK 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 2, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice newer course in a nice park. Course plays (4,5,0) and the holes have signs and easy to find. Creek is in play on 6 of the 9 holes, it has some water in it but you will not lose a disc in it, easy to get it out.

Cons:

Tees are grass and uneven on two of the holes so alittle hard to throw normal. The course plays close to a few of the play grounds so it might be a problem if the park is busy.

Other Thoughts:

I did not know this course was here, I pulled in to the park and seen a basket so stopped and played it. Nice 9 hole course with not to many other courses real close by. I like it and will play it again next time in town.
