Two key points about 16 from the current (short) tee: there are often winds out in the open you can't feel from the tee, and once you get to the base of the mound for your upshot, it's a little bit of an optical illusion as to the length to either basket position. I personally have to rip a nice drive at the center of the gap, and need another good fairway drive to reach even the short pin. The ultra-long tee to long pin (1117 feet!) is a whole different animal!
