Getting Access Takes Longer Than The Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 25, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

(0.449 Rating) A family friendly course layout that can also be used as a practice area for skilled players on base.
- FORGIVENESS - Osprey is very beginner friendly. There are no hazards on this layout. Losing a disc will be limited to forgetting to pick up.
- FAMILY FRIENDLY - Looks like a nice place for a military family to bring everyone. In addition to the five baskets, there are ball fields, playgrounds and a splash pad. So younger kids will have multiple things to do here in addition to disc golf.
- MAINTENANCE - Like every base course I've played thus far, the grounds appear to be mowed regularly.

Cons:

Osprey DGC takes twenty minutes just to sign-in.
- ACCESS - Being Military or knowing someone who is, is required. Thank you again DGCR members Mr. Butlertron and Hello Kitty for getting me in here.
- 5 BASKETS - Having this few of baskets definitely hurts the rating for this course. A few may argue that it's not even a course, although I'd disagree due to the numbering of the baskets and the fact that there are 5 baskets here.
- NO LOOP - Basket (5) is almost a 1000 foot walk back to tee (1). Perhaps there's a local way to play backward to baskets (4), (3), (2) and (1) for 9 holes.
- UNDEFINED CHALLENGE - No tees were marked on my visit, so my guide had to recall where the flags were from 2 years ago. Without the defined layout, rating the challenge of this course is limited. Regardless, looks and feels like a Novice level layout. Just a few trees to weave around and short holes. Advanced players would be unsatisfied throwing anything other than all birds. There are obviously numerous ways to throw a round here, but every course could say the same thing. Safari possibilities don't affect how I rate courses.
- CHARACTER - Just about no amenities or course comfort items. Even the some of the core basics like tee signs and tee pads are missing. As noted above, numbered DISCatchers. Probably nearby are the typical park items like restrooms and shelters.
- UNIQUENESS - Five blah short park style shots.
- SAFETY HAZARDS - A couple shots play along parking areas and park roads. It seems like space was available to avoid these features.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - Not good and I'd put this course into my bottom 10 percent. Buildings and roads are in view the entire time.

Other Thoughts:

Really not much good I can say about this course. The most redeeming quality I found was the fact that I bagged another course. Mr. Butlertron said he would never play here again, and I apologize to him for me asking him to take me here.

Bad course, not in a cool way 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 2, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

- 5 brand spanking new baskets
- ace runs galore.....that's it

Cons:

So numerous that it's too tedious to list them in full. I'll try to list the most important cons
- sandy tee pads and fairways make throwing difficult
- tee signs lacked everything, but a number. One tee sign missing, one was broken
- course in close proximity to parking lot
- every hole featured a RHBH line, but lacked LHBH lines.
- 5 baskets with 4 tee signs.
- overall, just plain dangerous to any pedestrians in the area and players at the proceeding tees

Other Thoughts:

I missed being the first reviewer by a couple weeks.....dang! Honestly though, this "course" is pretty bs. It's so bad that I'm going to head over to the outdoor recreation department and either ask them to let me help redesign it or recommend that they dismantle the course. I don't typically get that fired up about crappy courses, but it's that bad. There's no place for courses like this. These are the types of layouts that get pedestrians hurt or property (cars) damaged. I normally reserve a rating of 1 no matter how bad the course is just as long as it has at least 9 baskets. This course only has 5 baskets, the layout is very simple, and the park is located next to a child developement center. This is why I chose to round down to a .5

Short but sweet 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 18, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy to navigate.

Would be an excellent course to take a beginner or younger players, short holes, but with slight nuances (tree placement, low hanging branches) that still present a (relative) challenge.

Wide open, so would be difficult to lose discs.

Cons:

Tee signs only have hole number, no yardage. Map not really needed as it's quite obvious where next pin is.

Could not find #5 tee, just teed off from the skate park

Other Thoughts:

If the course is empty one could theoretically play this as a nine-hole course. Played the 5 and then used the pins as teebox for going backwards. With the layout of the baskets, especially 2 and 3, going backwards actually presented a new and different hole strategy.

Overall, definitely not something to go out of the way for, but would be a great course for younger players or to test low-speed mids and putters.
