It's a must stop if you're in Arkansas

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 7, 2024 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Beautiful property, great hosts. A lot of fun downhill throws. Multiple tee boxes on most holes. Cart-friendly. Getting up after 18 is toughest spot.

Cons:

Some duplicity with holes like 12, 14, 15, and 17 all going the same direction and similar slope. Still a great course, especially Golds.

Other Thoughts:

Some electrical hookups for camping at some point would be nice add.

Outstanding Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 25, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Beautiful landscaped canvas for Matt Loyd to design.
Super hospitable hosts, great pro shop, CARTS!, short and long tee pads to choose from, not far from the Little Rock metro area.

Cons:

None really to speak of. Maybe in the future they could add an additional tee pad and/or pin placement.

Other Thoughts:

If you are ever anywhere near Conway, Arkansas and have a couple of hours to spare, take the short drive to Greenbrier to visit this outstanding course. Then rent a cart and have some fun. You will not regret it.

Fun Challenge on Beautiful Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 24, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Course layout is great with final placements in the ground, 2 sets of tees for 9 holes, so can play all long or play some shorter tees, natural OB's on most holes and 2 water areas that can gooble the discs if errant shot. Hole 18L is a jewel and tough for Am's 350ft to short tee then 425 ft across water if want to attempt to get a birdie, tight OB with water on the right and cart path left. 18S Par 3, but probably no 2's unless a throw in or have a cannon for an arm. Many different shots and the owners continually making improvements to course.

Cons:

long course, not necessarily for beginners but can be fun for all.
Course is off the beaten path 15 min outside of Greenbrier, but worth a play if you have the time.

Other Thoughts:

owners of the property working on new tee signs for all tee pads, just got in new carts for the course.
3.5 mile walk up and down hills for the walkers or can rent a cart.
$5 round is well worth the trip
Look around the pro shop well stocked with discs and bags for everyone's needs and you will more than likely get to meet the owners while there.

Lucky Local Guy 2+ years drive by

Pros:

The number one PRO of this course is undoubtedly the owners of the course. They have given all of us a great opportunity to enjoy an unbelievably beautiful piece of land. They are such great people and are always welcoming in every way possible. This is definitely a Championship level course that is settling into its final layout. The recent addition of concrete tees, in my opinion, takes away the only possible negative aspect of the course I could imagine. Even before they were in, this course was my favorite by far.
Elevation change and basket placement are great throughout the entire course. You will find yourself being amazed that you threw a disc as far as you did, and three holes later asking how you could come up so short. I am not a great golfer by any means, but I love a challenging course, and this one fits the bill. The wind that can kick up will definitely remind you how hard disc golf can be in open areas. The new wooded holes are a great change of pace to the 1000+ foot bomber holes that you see earlier in the round. The final hole is definitely the most picturesque I have ever played.
The on-site fully stocked disc golf store, camping, fishing, entertainment area, and food availability are just extra pluses on an already amazing property.

Cons:

If you decided to play two rounds in the same day, you will surely feel it the following day! But it is still worth it.

Other Thoughts:

There will be some amazing tournaments thrown here in the future. You might as well come get acquainted with this property if you like playing big time tournament courses. Soon you will be seeing Persimmon Ridge DGC host some of the biggest tournaments in the area!

Gem in Central Arkansas 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 22, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Top notch layout. The course will test everything you have. Basket placement on several holes really makes you think about where you want to place your approach or whether you want to run a long putt. Failure to analyze the area around the basket and you might find your disc rolling 40+ feet away after you thought you threw a good shot. There's a big variety of hole distances from a short par 3 under 300' to long par 5s that demand your best throws. There's two sets of tees to give everyone the same experience regardless of how far they throw or their ability.

The course is on a former golf course and golf carts are available for rent during your round. I have always walked the course and that hasn't been a problem. Just know that it is a much longer walk than most courses are.

There are a couple wonderful downhill bomb holes that make you want to empty your bag. The great part is that they are on holes that are designed so that the hole is still not done and you have to come up with more good shots from where your drive lands in order to get a birdie or par. They aren't just big shots to be big shots.

Even though the course would probably be considered an open course, the trees that are out there are perfectly used in the design to make you either have to shape your drives in certain ways, or make your approach to the basket really tricky.

Concrete tee pads are new and done nicely in the ground, not raised well above it like on so many other courses.

Cons:

The layout of the course is so good that it is tough to come up with something that is negative for the course. If playing the shorter layout, the next tee can be quite a distance away from the previous basket. That's pretty typical though for short pads on many courses.

The course is almost completely open in nature, with only one hole that can really be considered wooded. Personally I don't find that as an issue as the distance and design of the open holes gives the course a toughness to where it isn't necessary to have so many wooded holes, but some people will just prefer wooded courses over this one.

Other Thoughts:

Disc golf on a golf course isn't always done well, but this one is. Watch the pros tackle this course on youtube for a glimpse. Yes, the pros will go way under par, but they do that to almost any course while us mortals will walk away wondering how we lost so many shots. The pros are just that good, and this course punishes the rest of us in ways that few disc golf courses, especially in this area, will.

I struggled to come up with the score for this course, debating between a 4.5 and 5. I don't like to give out 5s, but in the end, this one deserves it from my experience. The family that owns the course is wonderful and just the overall experience playing this course is top of the line. It is only $5 to walk for all day and the cart pricing is also very reasonable if you want to go that route.

Pros:

Very Challenging and rewarding course. I would love to play again. It has wooded areas, open fields, and very fun elevation changes. There is also a nice shop with a fun practice area.

Cons:

The only negative thing was the signs. They were a little confusing if you go there for the first time.
