Diamond in the rough

Reviewed: Played on:May 10, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a nice Pitch and Putt located just a few blocks from downtown Chewelah. My wife and I played it twice while visiting family in the area. She has played 3 rounds of disc golf in her life and was able to have a very enjoyable time of it. Afterwards, she suggested that we play more together when we get home. We are both retired so dg is a great form of exercise. I, who has been playing for about 3 years, had fun throwing my putter on different lines. Most poles are straight shots without any obstacles. Except for #8 which is through a gap in the trees.
While we were there, the course manager came out and played with us the second time through and told some history of disc golf in Chewelah.

BTW, the baskets are Discatchers.

Cons:

Signage could be a lot better. We struggled to find it and then struggled to determine where to park (just pull off the road into the grass).
The CM had just moved some baskets around so the hole signs were hand written. Not a big deal.
The main issue with this course is that it hasn't been mowed so far this year. The grass is about knee high. Luckily, for me, I'm used to playing in sage brush, range grass, and rocky terrain so it didn't bother me a bit.
I would probably rearrange it to utilize the circle of trees in the center of the course.

Other Thoughts:

I hope disc golf in Chewelah grows and this course gets expanded or moved to a larger parcel of open space but still near downtown.
