Open, Wooded, & Heavy Wooded 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 3, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course offers a good selection of open prairie holes, moderately wooded holes, and some heavily wooded holes. A few holes also offer some decent elevation. The Innova baskets are in good shape, and multiple tees are marked fairly well.

Cons:

Most holes are pretty short, at least the more wooded ones; the course is designed for the children that are there for events or camping. The course is also private, so don't expect to play it if there are any activities happening there. Tees are natural with wooden blocks in the ground indicating the tee location. Several of the more open holes can get very overgrown with prairie grass; however a narrow fairway and moderate putting area are normally mowed every couple of weeks. Bugs can get bad here depending on the time of the year, but that's pretty typical with most of the courses around here. Sometimes there are trash buckets near a couple of the tees, but this is typically not the case. This course can be a little difficult to navigate if you are new to it.

Other Thoughts:

The course is pretty fun though due to it's variety. Technically the first 3 holes and the last 3 holes are the open prairie holes, but typically it is played starting at hole 15 (right next to the parking lot). Either way, once you finish hole 3 (technically speaking) take a right on the driveway or right next to the driveway and head towards the main road for about 2 minutes. Cross over the road (or go through the giant culvert) and you're at the tee for #4. Also, last time I was there, it looked like they were starting to put in posts indicating the distances, but I'm not sure where the stand on that right now.
