Big Baby Jesus, I can't wait 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 2, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

- course built on a quiet piece of property with great views of the lake and surrounding undeveloped land

- baskets in reasonable shape, catch well enough

- safari potential in some of the back holes

- friendly land owners. they were pretty shocked when we told them we were in from cedar rapids traveling the area playing disc golf. the guy that lived there was happy to show us around and explain that the course wasn't really the cardinal feature of the property...

- this place had a peaceful vibe to it. i guess the land is used as a church camp retreat/weddings and family reunions. it looked like they had a bunch of cabins and stuff tucked back into the property

Cons:

- being that it IS a "course" incorporated into a church camp facility, drinking is prohibited and smoking is discouraged

- no teesigns, no teepads. the only indication of where we had to go next was a small map we were provided and small concrete squares about as big as a CD case with the number spraypainted on it. we ended up making our own layout up in the end

- no real challenge or fun shots

- i've never played a disc golf course where i felt like i was being watched the whole time. maybe it was jesus watching me. or big baby jesus. rip ODB

- we had to give the guy 5 dollars to play the course, so my first pay to play course was lacking basic amenities a disc golf course needs

- this course is in the pdga directory. really?

Other Thoughts:

it's cool that the property has baskets on it, but it's kind of hard to call it a course. i can see time and effort and thought was put into it, so i can't say it's a total piece of crap. it's far away from stuff, and it's rarely played, as the owner's husband told us. not really worth playing unless you're just trying to fatten your tally.
