Pros:

-Very large tee pads, recently installed, and very well done.
-New baskets (MVP black hole) that I had never seen before but functioned quite well, and had very obvious round number plates on top. If you could see the number, it was likely the pin you were playing.
-Most holes had a "Nex T" sign that pointed to your next tee pad. Metal sign atop rebar, but could be hard to see (very skinny and a small plate).
-Tee signs, when present, were excellent, with elevation profiles, accurate vegetation (e.g., juniper snag would be referenced as a landmark). The person making these really went all out, and they need to be loaded onto the web site when all of them are complete.
-Super clean, no trash anywhere. Scenic views of the valley and surrounding mountains.
-Dozens of jack rabbits and cottontail rabbits, bounding all over the place.
-Did not see another person the whole round, so it felt like a private course.

Cons:

-New course and therefore has no map, which is very much needed.
-New course so the trails were not very well worn in, but it made it more scenic.
-Not all tee signs were installed (1-5 and 7 were in as of July 1, 2018).
-Many blind pins from the tee. For some players that may be a good thing, but if you are just "bagging" the course while traveling, then it makes it harder to play the course.
-Few benches.
-Holes are relatively repetitive, but there is not much nature to work with here. Mostly low scrub "clumps", some grass but not tall, and sporadic junipers and other coniferous trees that are not very tall (<15 ft most of the time).
-The surface of the terrain is loose soil with lots of rounded rocks that make your footing awkward. Lots of shifting, and even some gopher holes/burrows that you punch into on occasion, which is jolting when you do not expect it.
-In several cases, the alternate pin placements were (very) close to one another.

Other Thoughts:

The directions to the course were spot on, just make sure you slow down for the dirt road off to the right (west), which parallels the southern end of the Fairgrounds.

The sign that says Baskets 7-11 PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK is, in my opinion, overly cautious. I found those holes no worse than the other holes.

Hole by hole comments for pin positions on July 1, 2018:
#1: Blind shot. Slight left to right. Walk to left of tee to see pin on right.
#2: Blind shot. You can see a pin on the opposite hillside, but that is basket #12. It is right to left, up the ravine on the south (right) slope of the ravine.
#3: Blind shot. You shoot up a slight rise and pin is on downslope, protected by junipers. Slightly right off the tee, with more open space on fairway to right.
#4: Blind shot. Tee points in sort of the wrong direction, with pins off to left, which is ok if you are RHBH and throw big, floating hyzer shots.
#5: Blind shot. If you walk up the fairway a little bit, the pin is visible with trees in background. Slightly to left.
#6: Pin is just visible behind a large tree-shrub on the opposite slope, about 50 ft from edge of dirt road.
#7: Blind shot. There is a berm in front of the pin, but behind the berm it is level (no cliff). Can approach in either direction, avoiding trees in the middle (which obstruct view of pin). The tee sign is misleading in terms of a cliff. There is a slope to the right (pins B and C) but not dangerous or particularly steep. Not sure if it has changed since the sign was made, but this was very misleading IMO.
#8: Blind shot and pin is very far away and hard to see. There is a barbwire fence right in the driving lane. An opening in the fence is to the right. Drive over the fence and land in a big, level bowl. The pin is near the road-side of the bowl, at the far side. Very long hole. You won't see the pin until you are past the barbwire fence.
#9: Pin is just barely visible on edge of green trees/bushes on the road, which is below the tee. Nice stone stairs and trail leading off the tee to the fairway.
#10: Blind shot, bush/tree obscures view of pin. Slope from right down to left, pin is basically straight off the tee.
#11: Blind shot, but walk up trail to see pin. Uphill, left to right. Flat up above.
#12: Pin barely visible, hexagonal tee pad, very small, but since this is a downhill, short drive you don't need much tee pad.
#13: Blind shot. This is the other really long hole, with slope to the left and a flat area to right. Pin is in trees slightly to left. Very hard to see it until you are almost on top of it. Should be a flag on it so you know where to throw on your second drive.
#14: Pin visible next to big, downed tree trunk. Straight shot.
#15: Pin barely visible, dead ahead. Last of the long shots. Several trees come into play.
#16-18: These are all basically the same kind of shot, about 250 ft, straight or slight left to right, with trees shaping the line off the tee.
