Pros:
9 hole course located in an out of the way small town city park.
Concrete tee pads, plenty long and wide and grippy. These were very nice, and played well. One tee per hole. Hole 2 is the only outlier, as it is actually painted lines on the road up the hill.
Nice, bright yellow Kingpin baskets. Solid in every regard. One pin position per hole. A couple nice pin placements with rollaway possibilities. It also feels like there's definitely some space for alternate pin locations here.
Some nice distance variation in play, especially with the variations in elevation. There's nothing you'd really consider a bomber hole, but there's a couple opportunities to get a pull out.
A little bit of water in play...sorta. The river runs along a few holes, but you'd really have to get loose on one to actually lose a disc here.
**teaching moment - please notice the use of "loose" and "lose", and apply it to your daily vocabulary
The first couple holes have a decent amount of trees in play. Hole 1 is a darn nice starting hole.
Navigation is relatively easy, with good tee signs.
Cons:
There's a lot of openness here. Not much to be done about that, as most of the open spaces have already been used in the park.
Some long-ish walks between holes. Nothing serious, but more than the average course.
A couple of the holes play very close to the road, so you need to be aware of your surroundings.
I could see this park being well used on nice weekend days....because, well, Pittsville isn't exactly full of stuff to do.
Other Thoughts:
You can tell there has been some love put into this course. It's a fun spin for a beginner or intermediate player, but it won't offer much for the more advanced player.
Probably not worth going too far out of your way for, but a fun spin nonetheless.
