Pros:

The pleasant prairie disc golf course is located in a small park just minutes off of I-94. The course plays through a disc golf exclusive area, so you shouldn't encounter any other park traffic. The course is permanent and free to play. This would be an excellent winter course due to the length and thick undergrowth in the warmer months.

The baskets here are brand new. I want to say Mach III's with the number plates on the top. These are all mounted nice and level and catch nicely. The bright orange number plates on the top help with spotting them. One pin position per hole.

The tee pads and frames up 2x4's fill with woodchips. They're a little bit on the small side but work ok for the shorter distances here. One tee pad per hole.

The design did a good job of fitting 9 holes into this little of an area. For being only 9 holes there is some nice shot shaping required to score well here. Hole 1 is short but about the only way to park it is with a RHBH hyzer. Hole 9 is totally a RHFH hyzer shot. The other holes give you options, but some are better than others.

The course will probably never be busy. Shouldn't take much more than 30 minutes or so to play a round. The course starts and ends by the parking lot as well.

Cons:

The rough on this course is pretty absurd. I could be wrong, but it appears there's wheat growing on large swaths of the course. I have never seen this before, but I can tell you that looking for discs in this stuff is not easy. Even your standard long underbrush is extremely dense in the warmer months. They literally had about a 5 foot wide path running from the tee to the pin serving as the fairway on many of the holes. Mostly on the latter half but hole 3 was like this as well.

These tee boxes aren't ideal here. The wood chips are already started to disappear causing lumpy, uneven pads just asking for a twisted ankle or worse. Honestly natural pads would be better here, especially with the low usage I'm sure this course gets.

I don't normally try to mention the bugs because there's nothing that can be done able it, but holy cow, the bugs are brutal here. I grew up in this part of the state and the bugs can get THICK down here. Be sure to bring bug spray if playing in the summer or you most likely won't end up finishing your round. They're bad.

Hole 3's tee box is actually set up in hole 2's fairway. Not a great design here, especially with hole 2 being semi blind from the tee and one of the longer holes on the course. Poor design here.

Other Thoughts:

It's always nice to see new courses, especially in this part of the state as there's not a whole ton very close by. This course is still very new but my first impressions are that they kind of missed out a bit here. It's a pretty fun little course actually, but between the safety issues and general lack of mowing it's hard to give this anything more than a 1. Hopefully things improve as the course ages but as of now it's a pretty poor set up.
